The first step is done. I organized new sealings, vanes and oil for my pump. Not that easy for a 30 years old machine. Yeah, it's not the age, it's dissatisfaction of companies to service privat persons. Anyway, next step is to design a vacuum chamber for vacuum potting. This video demonstrate process of vacuum potting very good. Special silicon seems not be needed. Most addition crosslinked silicons have a dieletric strength about 20 kV/mm. Just have to find the right viscosity and hardness. Paper about potting/sealing. If there are >15 quads it will maybe worth asking directly cap manufacturer. But for now reps. the prototyps just any caps who fit specs will be good engough.

Hi, got here 3x 40 m Commscope 753605 RGBHV cable with 15-DSub to 5x BNC. Cables are in good condition. The outer, black PVC is a bit sticky but flexibility is good/unaffected. Asking 10 € per bunch + shipping cost. No selling per meter. Located in Germany.

Hi guys, I want to/will try rebuilding quads. Got a vane rotary pump here, however it needs service. Already contacted Leybold, but this could take some time till it's back operating (~1 month). Is there anyone out there that is willing to send me some faulty quads for testing/planing (to germany)? I got no faulty quads here, all working, but if the rebuild will fuction, I want to redo all even the functional ones. Any suggestions what cap typ should be used? PE or PP, dU/dt, voltage vs frequency rating?

Hi Case, All my 909 are late 2003 build. They were in service till end of 2008, running 8h a day. Several boards got exchanged/repaired/upgraded, so it's a mix of newer and older boards. Since my 909 never ever will run 8h/day again, I just orient on the standard programm off the supplier. I use mainly Panasonic FR, Chemicon LXS and KXJ for >=400V, plus some FC for values which are not covered by the FR series respectively the supplier don't offer. Never had a problem with my 10 SMPS1, all working flawless, but I didn't check for ripple/noise. Barco seems to changed the star type to normal radial type on the newer boards with R761342 7-xx. Some pics of the different SMPS1 I got here:

And thanks back for your kind words. I would say rather holder than user, my 909 are currently stored I live in Germany. BTW the list is about the orginal caps Barco used, not the caps I ordered.

Where did you buy the tube? Direct from manufacturer? No a guy on ebay sold some. If it would be possible to buy from manufacturer that would be great news. Do you know? I contacted Mikado a while ago. They refer me to Q4-Services. One set is not enough to order directly from Mikado. Don't know at which specific quantity you can directly place an order or you could anyway. I guess 20+ sets you catch they interest. At Q4-Services you can order Mikado tubes in low quantities. Price is about 930$ for a bare tube plus shipping, customs/taxes. Tube comes with 12 month or 2000 h warranty. Q4-Services has a really nice contact! I never purchased a tube there because 3500$ + customs for a set is equal to a (for me) good digital pj. So I tend to go digital if there isn't a chance to get the tubes at lower price.

Yes I do have a Mikado Seisakusho Co. Ltd green tube. I also use the 70/30 ratio for ethylene glycol/glycerine(glycerol). Where did you buy the tube? Direct from manufacturer?

Hi Case, I recently refilled one housing of my 909 with fresh cooling liquid. You need about 600 mL per tube. You'll end up with a little rest. For 600 mL you need 201.6 g glycerol and 488.4 g ethylene glycol. In the installation manual of the 909 is a safety data sheet. There stands it's a mix of ethylene glycol (ethan-1,2-diol) and glycerol (propan-1,2,3-triol) with specific gravity of 1,15. Temperature is unknown so I assume it's given for room temperature (20°C). Ethylene glycol density is 1.11 g/cm³ @20°C [1] and glycerol density is 1.26 g/cm³ @20°C [2]. Expect there is no volume contraction the glycerol makes about 26.67% of the density in the cooling liquid. So you get about 34 wt% of glycerol or 29 vol% of glycerol. There seems to be no additives since no other substances listed in the safety datasheet. Is there a real difference between simulation grade and normal LUGs? I only aware of Mikado Seisakusho Co. Ltd. who produce new projection tubes (including LUGs). They only have one type of LUG in their portfolie. Would be interesting if there's a relativ inexpensiv way to get a sharper image on the tube's face. My 909 has slaved more than ten thousands hour, the tubes (orginal Panasonics) also heavily used and scanlines at 1920x1080x60Hz on green/red is no problem. So I guess you don't need a blue "simulation grade" tube. regards [1] gestis-en.itrust.de/nxt/gateway.dll?f=templates$fn=default.htm$vid=gestiseng:sdbeng[2] gestis-en.itrust.de/nxt/gateway.dll?f=templates$fn=default.htm$vid=gestiseng:sdbeng[/url
