I repaired his PlayStation 4 with an HDMI IC replacement. After a lightning strike.
He had his PS4 routed through his Sony receiver. He hasn't given me specifics on which input ports on the receiver are good/bad. Only that two of the four are dead. And two work. Output on the receiver still works. I ended up telling him to look into a replacement hdmi board. He wasn't too concerned with it though. He still hasn't brought it in for me to look at. I was just wondering if replacing the ic(s) on the hdmi board was doable. As the service manual states not to, and to replace the board itself.

New here. Found via a google search, saw a thread about this same receiver. Quick question .....
I recently replaced an HDMI IC in a customers PS4. He had a nearby lightning strike. His receiver, a Sony STR-DH520, has two of the four HDMI inputs not working.
I've briefly looked over the service manual/schematic ... noticed it said if the IC's on the HDMI RE PC BOARD were bad, they couldn't be replaced?? And stated to replace the board. First ... I'm not familiar with receivers. Most of my repairs are computer related. Some board level, some not. Or an occasional game console. Granted, with schematic in hand, it's all the same right?
Is it likely the IC3500 is the culprit? And can it not be replaced?? I've found SII9233ACTU available for purchase. I don't have possession of the receiver at this time, so I haven't had the chance to look at it. Trying to decide if it's something I want to dig into.
