It measures -5.05v and there's no heat or smoke coming up from the board. The charger is 700ma and I left it plugged in for several minutes.

Well we got a little side tracked with a couple emails but it has been repaired. We ended up testing all the supply rails and they were ok. Then tested a couple safety transistors and they were ok. Then JB noticed a funny looking trace and after I looked at the picture we determined the trace was damaged. So he repaired the trace and all seems well again.

No more e-mail side tracking guys ! Athanasios Yeah, agreed. Frankly, I don't get all the secrecy with the modifications. If someone really wanted to reverse engineer it would not be a problem. But who would want to put in all that effort?

If I'd have any MP board in hand I'd happily do that, but I don't, although I have a collection of MP modded board pictures

most of the stuff is pretty obvious, clean up supply lines, alter gains, change op amps, bypass limiting circuits not really necessary etc.
Biggest thing is set up.

Nashou Perhaps, but it's the precise combination of all those parts that yield the end results. If just one thing is out of order it really can diminish the results. As I've stated publicly before I was skeptical of MP's stuff a few years back but Craig really encouraged me to meet up with Mike. After seeing his stuff in person and in my machine there's a big difference in performance. I don't think I could go back to stock boards.
At any rate, this process was a great learning experience and I really appreciate all of the help from Mastertech. It's a lot more satisfying to repair your own board then have to send it out
