HI Guys,
I have the Cinemax with me that i suspect has a bad focus board.( The video went soft and there is a horizontal band on the image that seems out of focus ). Adjusting the focus from the menu is possible but it is maxed out already, for it to get a decent focus. I have been using this unit with a fresh 808 quadrupler from the Crt P.
With the 808 quad, the PJ Probably have logged 30 hours already or more.
Is it possible the 808 quad can ruin a 909 focus board?
The Quads' focus leads have been terminated already and the eht is a 909.

Its not the focus board, its a HV issue.

Its not the focus board, its a HV issue. HI Case,
Always great to hear from you,
I have had HV issues before with two of my units. But have already replaced the quads and either splitter or eht on both units.
Anyway, I have swapped the focus board and this did solve the problem. I have maxed out the contrast earlier to rule out a failing quad. The high contrast usually causes the pj to shut down if the quad or other HV has issues.
Right now I am wondering if the 808 quad is causing the focus board to fail. Have been using cinemax for 8 years straight now , and never had a bad focus board. Always the smps and the quads.

Yeah it wont affect the focus board, if that failed it is just a coincidence. Ive seen HV issues cause bad focus just recently.

As Case said , the hv section and focus board are totally different circuits no relation to each other . If in doubt run projector without focus board and see what it does to the image and if image stays stable.

And just be careful putting in the longer focus board where the smaller one come from, the later chassis has a cut out area for the larger capacitor fitted to the longer board, but the earlier models dont, and the capacitor will be damaged by the chassis.

Well that explains why that big capacitor was crushed in my cinemax,I could not explain it everything seemed to be original from barco ,So somebody replaced board versions without adapting the case.
