Well it looks like that CPU is bad. All those pins you diode tested are shorted to ground. They are the power output pins to turn on all the relays and functions of the receiver. Looks like that ic is available on special order but it's around 44 bucks plus ship. Hope you didn't pay to much for it.

Is that chip all that appears bad? If so 44 doesn't seem bad. I only paid 65 for it.

It's hard to say if that is all that is wrong. Without certain parts of the receiver being turned on you cannot tell if there are other problems or not. Even if we were to attempt to force on all these supplies, we don't know if the front display or knob and button controls would function. What you can check is this. Leave receiver unplugged, gnd in pin 22, DMM on diode. Then take your pos probe and drag it across all the pins on that ic and see if there are a lot more that show short. If there are quite a few more showing short then even a force on will not help.

I just checked ebay. Doesn't same to be any other units I could try Frankenstein this with. I guess I will close it back up and look for a Wally World receiver. I was really excited for this one to come up
Do you happen to have any returned units your looking to sell? Lol

Unless I can sell this turd. Low. Lol. I'm just looking for something with hdmi and black. Don't care much for any thing else. 5.1. 7.1 doesn't matter

The only cheapies I have right now are a couple I took in on trade. They are suppose to work fine but I haven't checked them out yet.
Denon AVR-688 Onkyo TX-SR606
Might be having a Pioneer VSX70 coming in but not sure yet.
Other wise it's stuff that is 400+

Whatever is cheaper. Not really the time to be buying myself stuff with Christmas coming. Are any of the parts worth anything to you in this unit? Maybe a swap and cash. I'd imagine the power supply and large transformer are good. Maybe front panel and input boards as well

Both those top two receivers do what I want. So I'm interested. Just need to shuffle around some stuff and do some ebaying. But if you get me a price I will make it happen at some point.

Looks like onkyo is cheapier and has 4 hdmi instead of two. So I guess that's tge one is want.
Not sure what I should do with the receiver I have. I can ship it free through work but I'm more after not feeling like a scammer selling a dud.

If I thought I could use some parts I would make an offer but I'm really not seeing anything I would normally need. The Denons I sell are also higher dollar unit and these parts are not compatible.
I'll check over this Onkyo and let you know. I will PM you my email.
