help needed
Had a new VSX-1021K and in use for about 4 years, 2011 design features are very good, OK sound but for the price I shouldn't complain however it just died a few weeks ago, although I have other receives in the other living room and now I defiantly missing some part in life, has already setup with all equipment to work with this receiver, would like to fix it 1st
Open it up visual check passed and fuses good, did some cleaning, and board disassemble, SMPS board is output 5.6V (page 77 of SM) so it is inside somewhere makes it gets to protection mode which is more than I thought.
Read some thread here last night, reset didn't do it then jump to repairalmostanything.com/thread/55/pioneer-1122-dead-turn-fixed, did holding power and release then heard a click and a minor burn smell, after that unit shuts off and MCACC light blinks, let it set for 10 mins try the same action again, this time I can clearly see a small, light smoke out then system remain the same shut off way as before.
Need help from mastertech

Sounds like a dead short. I would diode test all the output transistors on the heatsink looking for any shorted ones.

Right on MAC, 2 transistors on center channel shorted out, there are some dust around it (not much dust, entirely almost like new condition on the AMP board) and we are in Phoenix, bad thing is my center speaker went out too, a mid-high Bose center speaker, bad luck.
Will order parts (they marked D2390 and B1560) hope that will be it, don't really want to bother assemble now, will post pictures and solution to seal this post, thanks Mr. Rolex!

Did you test any other parts in that circuit?

No I didn't. get the ordered transistor in this weekend and replaced the mal-functioning parts, it still refuse to power on, reset won't do it.
Additional help needed for what parts and measurement should I be looking at, please advise

You should at the very least check all the circled parts.

Will disassemble again and make the measurements and post back for the result.
Does anybody has a clue for the XM radio 8 pin mini DIN pinout connection?

That says Sirius, not XM. Are the pinouts on that port numbered?

Sirius & XM merged by July 29, 2008, getting a headache with this unit for not to have a entire hours to work on it and don't want to bother with the schematic at the movement.
When I say XM, it means Sirius or XM whatever, the same thing, from the design looks like there is a standard on that 8 mini DIN and I worked on it before with no success

It doesn't matter same thing or not. It is not up to me to figure out things when you are not being specific. If you want my help then you need to be specific. I should not have to guess what you are trying to say. So either be specific or I will just stop responding.

ok, will focus. no more XM or Sirius. and I do need help
Disassembled again and get all measurement for the component circled, all passed, a few point not too sure like R518 & R518, did comparison with other channels appears to be the same.
New installed Darlington transistors are also good. any suggestion?

R511,R512 and R517,R518 are both pairs mounted parallel. You have to lift 1 leg on each resistor to properly test.
Also, R502 and R526 both tested good at 100 ohms?
