I have got this projector for free. The only symptom, that I can see is, when I plug in the AC cord, the power button starts blinking like every two seconds, continuously. Power, Lamp and Temp LEDs do not turn on. Previous owner thinks, that is a bad transformer. I'm not convinced about that. I have took it apart, inspected the power supply and ballast driver and did not see anything obviously bad. At elektrotanya, is available the SM(schematics): elektrotanya.com/benq_w1070_w1080st_ver.00a_level3.pdf/download.htmlHere it is, the level 2 SM: www.scribd.com/doc/208363905/Benq-W-1070-Service-ManualThis is the first time, that I'm trying to diagnose a projector(not counting the Epson 3020e). I have managed to measure some voltages, CN603: 174V(at 380V plug/ page. #18), at CN701: 12.65V, 3.3V(page #19). I did not take pictures yet, but this is my ballast driver: www.aliexpress.com/item/USED-LAMP-BALLAST-DRIVER-FOR-BENQ-W1070-W1070-W1080-W1080ST-PROJECTOR/32824953859.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.79.773f1e297vCvQe&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_1_10152_10065_10151_10344_10068_10130_10324_10342_10547_10325_10343_10546_10340_10548_10341_10545_10084_10083_10618_10307_5711211_10313_10059_10534_100031_10103_10627_10626_10624_10623_10622_5722411_10621_10620_10810_10811_5711311,searchweb201603_2,ppcSwitch_4&algo_expid=57655dc7-8873-4de0-80df-45421ee9f2fb-12&algo_pvid=57655dc7-8873-4de0-80df-45421ee9f2fb&transAbTest=ae803_5&priceBeautifyAB=0 Any help, would be greatly appreciated. Where should I start? Put it together, and start measuring the voltages on the mainboard?

I have did some measurements and I have found lower voltages, than expected. On page #19, at 21V PFC, I'm getting 15.4V and at the 19Vcc, I'm getting only 11.2V.

I have injected lower voltage, 8.5V instead of 12V, with a 5A power supply, maxed out. I have found that PMD1000 IC, it was heating up quite a lot. Also, C297 capacitor as well, which is on the other side of the board. The capacitor, it was shorting out the circuit. After I have replaced the capacitor, the 12V rail it was OK. The projector still did not turn on, though. But at least, the power button turned solid green and the power LED turned on red. After measuring the PMD1000 IC, nothing comes out of it. It receives the 12V, but there are no voltages, at any of the outputs. I have ordered a new(2) one, and now I'm in the waiting stage.

Yes!!, mastertech is back. Do you think that, what I did is OK?

Looks good so far. Did you get the new ic yet?

Tomorrow. Do you think that a defective capacitor, can damage this IC? It seems like, it is a DC/DC converter. I couldn't find anything about this IC, on the net.

Was that ic still heating up after you changed the cap and the 12v line was normal?

To tell you the truth, I don't remember if it was still hot, or not, but the voltage jumped higher, like 14.7V.

I have replaced PDM1000 IC, and it booted right up. Did a bit of maintenance, and picture is very crisp. The image was very dull, I thought, that it needs a new bulb, it was that dirty. So it was a shorted de-coupling capacitor and a DC/DC converter IC.

Good job. Nice to see you got it working.

Thanks. It would be even nicer, if we could figure out, that Epson 3020. I'm still looking for a remote, but my Logitech Touch, has all the switches in it and I could not correct the image, from 3D to 2D. Here are some pictures, with the bad parts.

Hello tibimakai,
I have encountered exactly the same issue for my BenQ W1070 (now 6 years old). When I turn the power switch on, the green power light blinks for 5 times, a short pause and the cycle repeats. I showed it to the BenQ service centre, they mentioned that it is either Power Board or Main Board which needs replacement. The total cost of repair with Main Board replacement was quoted at about US$300. Now considering the life of my projector, it seems I might need to replace the lamp soon which will be additional US$221. Quick question, since I am not a technician myself but want to save every penny, do you think replacing the Power Board fix the issue? This will be a cost of about US$100, if I do it myself. If it is too technical meaning requires soldering etc. I would go for a new projector instead. I love this machine as it never gave any trouble for the last 6 years and would want to continue with it, should it be a small expense to repair. Please can you advise? Thank you in advance. Regards, Vee Thanks. It would be even nicer, if we could figure out, that Epson 3020. I'm still looking for a remote, but my Logitech Touch, has all the switches in it and I could not correct the image, from 3D to 2D. Here are some pictures, with the bad parts.

In the troubleshooting section, there is a description for the error code? I have just checked, there is no such error. Unfortunately, the only way to diagnose it, is to measure the voltages on the board. You have to be very careful, because there is very high voltage, at the ballast/bulb.
