Hi all,
Well, this seems to be common problem, and some details can be found online but I couldn’t find solution yet.As soon as I plug the mains in, unit switches itself on and start flashing „Clearing”message on the display. There is no response to keys on the front panel whatsoever. After 2-3 minutes, unit switches off and goes into on/off loop. Any ideas lads?

Yes, I bought it for silly money. I guess previous owner tried to do factory reset or firmware update but it didn't end well. Some folks online, report this problem with str-dn1050 and even 1080 model.

Does the unit turn off when you hit the power button when it says clearing?

Does the unit turn off when you hit the power button when it says clearing? Nope. None of the keys work. I even disconnected fron panel from hdmi board but that didn't make any difference. I found this thread on avforums, so my issue could be related to corrupted firmware upgrade.

Have you tried unplugging the unit, hold the power on button and plug it in, continuing to hold the power button for 30 seconds to 1 minute?

Have you tried unplugging the unit, hold the power on button and plug it in, continuing to hold the power button for 30 seconds to 1 minute? Yeah buddy, tried that already but no joy. It seems like some part of main cpu do work, because I hear speaker relays kicking in after 5 ish seconds.

I have the same problem. Thanks I could't fix it I'm afraid. I believe that internal uCom firmware is corrupted.
