not usually.
Check two things:
1) start the monitor and connect an HDMI device (Bluray player). Press and hold the "DISPLAY" button and record the message you see. It should show the input and output resolution. If you have an input resolution but no output resolution this would point to the QDEO chip being detached - Q8000. Simply reflow or pull the chip off and reball it (they don't usually break but the solderballs do break free) 2) use the setup button to configure the output as "SUB" and retest the system with the monitor connected to the "SUB" output. The HDMI signal will now avoid the QDEO chip completely and will try to output through an SII chip.
If #2 works, it confirms the QDEO chip is detached. If it doesn't and/or test #1 doesn't show in input resolution, you likely have a bad SII input chip (Q8132 is the most likely). If you suspect this is the case, provide the information above and I will follow up with an additional test you can run on the SII part.
