Hey Guys,
Lately I didn't have a lot of time to spend time on the onkyo's I did receive DSP processors from alieexpress. Several actually from several vendors. But the frustrating thing is that so far I haven't been able to get any of those dsp's running. Of course it could be another problem on the boards itself . But I would at least expect that some form of communication should come from the dsp processor on the serial console when all voltages check o.k. as well. Also tried nand chip changes, but nothing. My feeling at the moment is that those dsp processors are going to be extinct soon. All you get from china are fakes or repackaged BGA's What do you think?

I don't like dealing with DSPs. I have tried like two replacements, and made no difference after replacing them. I have no idea after a replacement, what is going on. The receiver has other issues, my soldering job wasn't right, or the IC is bad/fake? Then I'm stuck. I don't even consider picking up, anything older than a 646.

I'm not afraid of the reballing job. Pretty confident in doing it right. I did it on a 809 once that I know for sure that it solved the problem. Just wish now that I had a working board with a working dsp so I can take it off and test the various dsp chips I have gathered up till now. Till now the 818's haven't dissapointed me Those are the easiest to fix. br Maurice p.s. I need to quit buying the onkyo's anyway. It's a nice hobby to fix them, but it's getting difficult to sell them again. Not even asking high prices for them. But it seems that in most households the 7.1 setup has to make room for a sound bar..... why on earth.....I bet in most cases the partner has a say in it haha.

Hi! Can you post a high resolution pic of the chip that "does not work"?

I'm currently working on Pioneer SC-LX85. Both memory chips have been reprogrammed with working dumps, 1st DSP is booting but 2nd DSP is not. Both DSP have been replaced and they came from the same Aliexpress seller. Just have a look at DD and DTS markings, compared to the original chip. Attachments:

Hi! For me it's clear that this chip has been rebadged by laser! They pull chips from scrap boards and sell to people! So you are lucky that one works. But your original chip is D830 and the one in the board it D810. They are interchangeable? A bit off topic. Recently I bought some nand memories from one ALI seller. Check the image and make your judegement about it. They even come programmed!

Those logos are fake for sure. The new DSP works?

Sorry I missed a few posts. I will make a few pictures of the dsp's that I gathered so far. For now some horror pictures of a NR818 that I purchased of the local ebay site here.....dear god...sometimes the infamous youtube movie beats you to it. And I had it sitting here for weeks already without inspecting it first because i didnt have time. Else I would have send it back to the seller.
