I am trying to help fix a Pioneer SC-LX79 that appears to have the same problem as my VSX-2021. No audio out and *** where the DSP firmware version should be from a failed update. Replacing the DSP chip isn't the big problem; it's getting a firmware dump for IC9704 to correct the corrupted one afterwards.
I figured it might be possible to extract the required DSP firmware from a 'full' USB update file, so took a look at my saved VSX-2021 IC9004 file and searched the full update file for this code to see if this is possible. I was unable to locate it so the main file must be decoded in some way when it is loaded into the receiver.
I'm no software engineer by any standards so perhaps someone can assist in extracting the DSP part of the firmware from Pioneer's update for the SC-LX79 and converting it to the right format to program into the flash chip?

From reading on here, firmware for Onkyo models has been decrypted to give the individual files. Perhaps someone can do this with the Pioneer firmware too? Other than that I can only think maybe it's a format conversion needed like hex to binary??
