Hi,
I've got a Onkyo TX-NR616 with the no sound, no USB, no ethernet problem. With kapton to protect, flux and a heatgun, I tried to resolder the TI DSP chip (D830K013BZKB400), without success.
What are my options ?
1- Buying on ebay a D830K013DZKB400 and soldering it. Maybe the firmware on the NAND is not corrupted, and the amp will start again. If the NAND is corrupted, how can I flash the NAND ?
Desoldering the NAND chip, programming-it and resoldering-it is not an option I want to try, because I know my limit in soldering IC, and this seems too much for me...
2- Putting a board from another model like a TX-NR636. Is it compatible ?
This solution is very interesting, because I could get some interesting new functionality, like the bluetooth.
Do I have other options ? Any suggestions?

You need to find a newer model IC, which is DxxxxxxxxxD400. The second D has to be D, not B. You can find them only on newer Onkyo HDMI boards. The ones on Ali are fake.

An NR636 board will not work in an NR616. All of the interconnects are different.
I think I have a working NR616 board that I fitted with the new "D" rev chip that Tibimaki noted. I recall building one out as a spare and fully tested it but after 3 years I haven't had a need for it so I would be willing to sell it. If I still have it, I would need $100.00 plus the cost of shipping. Send me a PM if you are interested and I will take a look through my spares.

Hi,
I'm interested. I've send you a PM. I'm looking for a second chip/solution (got one at work, one at home, same model).
I found a (for sure fake) D830K013BZKB4 for less than $15. I will try solder it, or maybe I could find here a shop able to manage BGA unsolder/solder work.
I'm not here (country) since too much time, but I found a place where there is a lot of shop repairing laptop/smartphone/apple stuff.
Is Onkyo official repair shop servicing those failing A/V amplifier ? If yes, what's the cost ?
Bests regards,

They probably only replace the board, which is way to much most likely. Not worth it. For a few years it was a "recall", and they fixed it for free, but that is long gone.

You wasting only your time and money in my opinion to put a cheap for sure fake and not trustfully source buy from your B400 DSP on a Board now! That cost to fit it when you find someone is more the amp is also worth now… It makes zero sense for me to do such thinks also the used working prices for a 616 are cheaper than to repair you faulty one now… but sure feel free to do it if you want it.
