They're on top and easy to get to when assembled.

Pin 28 does have 3.3v. Q4001 is not accessible, it's on the bottom of the main board and there isn't a good way to get to it while everything is hooked up.

Master reset didn't fix anything just put it back to factory defaults. Pure direct switches to just FL and FR speakers and no sound comes out. It does not have pre amp outputs, the closest thing would be the zone 2 line out and it doesn't produce any audio either even when plugged into a working amp and turned all the way up.

Any insight as to where to start with the no sound problem? I ran through all the inputs, I have no sound on any of the digital inputs (hdmi, bluetooth, network) and a extremely low distorted out at max volume on the analog inputs but only on the center, surround and surround back speaker outputs. No sound from the front speakers ever. It does it on both receivers so I'm going to assume it's in the hdmi board again. I have a video signal and all speakers are shown on the front display (older onkyo receivers with the dts chip problems wouldn't turn on the speakers). I also checked for continuity on the speaker board from the input P6400B to the speaker terminals and it's disconnected when off and connected when on, on every channel except zone 2 which is off all the time, I'm assuming I can turn zone 2 on in the menu. Running through the "No Sound" HDMI In section of the service manual I get to process 5 and I do not have 2.8v on pin 29 but I do on pin 30 on connector P8003A. Hopefully this gives us somewhere to start?

Reads less than 1 ohm on both boards.

Voltage was 0v at pin 74 and 3v at pin 121
On P6800b on the board with no power I get 0v on 1,3,and, 5. On the board with no sound I get 3.3v on pins 1 and 3 and .9v on pin 5
Ordered the crystal from digikey, I'll put it in as soon as it shows up.

Any way to test that or move on to no sound/video. I could probably replace the eeprom ic or crystal but no way I could do the main IC. Looking at Q7001 and X7001 correct?

138, 139, and 140 are 0v. 141, 142, and 143 are 3.3v none of them change when the power button is pressed.

Yes, still no power. I tried that with the no sound board too and tried to force the firmware to update but it won't even attempt it.

No change when pushing the power button or any other source button. Still 0vdc

0v on pin 126 and at R7030 (just to make sure I had the correct pin.) Makes sense to test at the ic pin and like you said you need a very sharp point on the lead to make sure you're only testing one pin.

Went and rechecked. Have 3.3vdc on both sides of L7007, at pin 9, 129, and 130 on Q7009. I was off one pin last time on 9 and a few on 129 and 130. Checked it at the next component in line this time as well (C7019, R7026, and R7025). If that gives a false reading let me know, it's a lot easier than trying to isolate the pins on the IC.
