I've picked up a Sony STR-DN1080 for almost nothing, that won't power on. Service manual is at www.manualslib.com/manual/2053876/Sony-Str-Dn1080.html, although the service manual for STR-DN1070 is actually more helpful as it uses the same MPU and describes the pins. The standby LED is red, but nothing happens when I press the power buttons - no clicks or anything. Checked all standby voltages and they are OK, also checked that the Protection pins on the MPU are high (which they should be) and that the power switch pulls the MPU pin low when pressed. Beginning to think that it's a MPU firmware issue. I have another STR-DN1080 that I've fixed and is now working so I might try pulling out its HDMI board, reading the firmware off IC3000 (using my CH431 programmer and ASProgrammer software) and flashing it onto the non-working board.

Read and flashed the firmware from the other working STR-DN1080 and this one's all working now too. Nice easy fix!
