I looked over both prints and I do not see any differences, even in parts value.

The notch on the PWB is different, so you can't put 9" neckboard on 8" tube unles you cut the plastic off the tube socket, you can put 8" boards to both types of tubes though.

I'm glad you are here And probably that is the main reason why the different machines are specified at different lumen ratings, eg. if you put 8" neckboards on 9" tubes, the 8" neckboards may limit the beam current earlier than genuine 9" neckboards. Also could be a reason why the keying is preventing the backwards compatibility (not to overdrive the 8" tubes).
