Hi all Who has played with these? I adjusted mine today and have some info to share. Firstly, although i used a plastic handled screwdriver, the metal tip got VERY HOT!!! Induction is an issue, so i adjusted them from then on with the set turned off. The convergence had an issue where the green was drifting over time, the red and blue were not. That now appears to be gone, after adjusting the green coil. The red image with all settings on mid point was considerably smaller than the green, while the blue was a bit larger. I set them so the size of all three was the same. I had to re-adjust my vertical board red and blue pots for both size and position, so i did this at the same time prior to convergence. I managed to then get the convergence to align a bit better than usual in the corners, still not NEC pixel perfect, but better all the same. Having been told in the past not to bother with them i had followed that advice, however i for one am suggesting against using the digital adjustments to compensate for incorrect widths of red and blue.

The core of those coils is made of ferrite and the strong magnetic fields will make a metal screwdriver glow red in few seconds. Use of a plastic/wood/ceramic tool is needed. Normaly yes, we don't need to bother with them because they are factory adjusted. That's why, they are not mensioned in the installation manual, with exception of when we change a tube. While projecting a pattern on the highest resolution you will use, turn the core on all three coils all the way in ( downwards to mainboard ). The smallest raster width should be use as reference. Turn the core of the other two colors back out to match the smallest. Look at the horizontal centerline to be able to tweak with precision. Again, it is important that one of the coils is turned all the way in, to avoid running out of max. horizontal width. Each time we touch the 17V / 48V rails or change a tube, we should in fact recheck the raster width coils.

Yeah mate i wondered what was burning, and then i thought "you f***en d***head..." I never even thought about it prior to poking that in there, i thought oh yeah, its all plastic handle, wont be an issue... You'd think of all people i shouldve known why you need a plastic tool
