I tested all 5 channels and the front right is not working. I bought this knowing it has this problem. I was assuming it was the amp. And now I think i'm right. I tried to coaxial digital and analogue connections. They both work. I tested the DTS decoder... It works fine. So, can I open this up and take out the amp boards without getting a shock? Noob questions I know, but better safe than sorry.

Yeah, looked inside, will be a pain to get undone, The heat sink is attached to just about every crevice in the unit. accidentally arched one of the output transistors on the 2Channel board... ooops. Woke me up. One of these things finally bit me.The screw driver I was using must have been insulated good, because I didn't feel a thing.

More broken parts to add to the list.

Checked all of the output transistors, all seem normal... no shorts at least. De-soldered all of the resistors and none of them were shorted. So, this board seems fine? Is it the preamp causing the right channel to not work? Is there a better way of testing these boards than removing all the components and testing each one? Well i do not see any speaker relays in the receiver. And it is not going into protect so it does not appear to be any DC on the output line. Did you check that speakers outputs with your DMM on DC voltage?

I'm sorry I'm so late replying. I just logged on now. I did not measure the speaker outputs. Hmm I'll have to put the amp board back together and test that damn.. I just plugged speakers up to it and only one channel was out. I was thinking of scrapping the unit. There are some very large capacitors and a large toroidal transformer that I'm sure is worth some money and sell off the 3 channel board.

Looked more into this receiver and the main board large caps look pretty bulgy.

Yes, you do seem to have a problem there. Looks like a lot of junk leaked on the board also.

Well I thought that was some kind of glue... Here it is on the board I started to take apart.

The stuff around those 2 caps in the last picture looks different.
