I now have repaired the later revision controller and loaded the latest Cine 9 firmware. We I go into convergence menu the progress display always stays in the centre. You cant see the centre of the cross hatch to line it up. The earlier firmware moves this around the screen away from the adjustment area. Is this normal for this firmware?

You need to go into the service settings and change 'menu position', then it will be in opposite corners as normal.

This is nothing to do with firmware either, it is an option in the menu on all of them.

I am thinking of putting the later Controller board into the 919 now it has the latest firmware. Is there a way to copy the setup from the controller in the projector to the new replacement controller? Or do I need to do a complete new setup?

You can i believe, but i would not.
You are best off doing the setup again, and knowing it is correct, because all boards are not always equal when it comes to settings.
Obviously the physical setup will not change.

Just as a further note to that Greg, whenever i make any change that requires changes to more than just fine convergence, i generally delete all inputs, then null all settings, check for perfect mechanical alignment and adjust if required, then go from there.
Generally speaking the mechanical adjustments dont change, but if they do, it really is best to do the lot.
Once you set the first source perfectly, all other sources will start at those settings, and will be very close in most respects. It takes me a fair while because all my retro game consoles have different amplitude settings, so i have to do each one on its own input number.

Thanks Casey, I need to just get in and do it. I will only need two setups. 1080p@48 and at 60fps. I might try and get the vp50 pro to 72 and see how it looks.

Can it do 2560x1440 at 48Hz?
If so, try that, with some 720p material it looks great here, if i had some 2560x1440 material it would look awesome

Interesting thing I noticed when I changed the controller in the test rig. The 17v was set at 17.3 and stable. When I changed it to another controller it went up to 19v. It seems the controller I repaired still has an issue and is loading the 17v supply.

Are they the same controller model?
Whenever i change any board i check the 17v before i recalibrate anything.

I have a controller that has a strange fault. If I set the scan ip for front table I get no video. If I switch the Horz plugs to front ceiling I get video. Change the controller and all works fine. I think its something to do with the HSI that is fed to the controller from the blue Horz plug. Anyone have any ideas or a good bit of documentation on how this works?

Did you have a look for bent pins on the controller? That can cause some very strange things if one pin is not making contact where it should.

No bent pins. It looks like when the HSI signal is grounded it shuts off the video. I am going to set up a open projector so I can do some testing on the controller board. I really need extension jig for the front tray.
