Hi all, i just redid all this last night after getting the machine running again ( only to have it blow a quad today, but that is fixed )
I used a different method to my usual way, which seems to have given much better results.
Usually id set the rings with a dot pattern for middle perfection, this did not change.
Next up though, i went in and got all focus as sharp as i could, then returned to astig.
I didnt adjust the middle, it was spot on, but i worked my way out from the middle to the sides and corners using the "NEC readability" pattern, it says "NEC, Total Display Company" in small letters. Could probably use a 1 on 1 off pattern too.
I leave focus set as sharp as possible, then ramp the 4 pole setting up and down to get best sharpness in both directions, then check 6 pole, and move to the next zone.
From time to time i went back to focus menu and adjusted zones to get best electronic focus.
My red tube is basically even sharpness across the entire screen doing it this way, my green and blue have 22,700 hours and neither one can get perfect focus in some areas, the middle of the green seems to be slightly blured due to what is probably old age.
Prior to this ive always used the dots, with reasonable success, but this way seemed a lot quicker and seems to have given even better results.
Anyone else tried this way?

When i set optical focus, i use binoculars, display a full white screen, either turn off colours or throw a lens cap on, fully defocus electronic midpoint, then put the mouse pointer in the middle and adjust rear focus until the grain of the tube face is razor sharp.
Move mouse cursor to a corner, adjust front focus til that corner is perfect, then look at diagonally opposite corner, mark lens, then adjust for than corner to be perfect, set lens between two points i just made, then adjust lens flapping, which generally gets pretty close on first go.
From there i redo the middle, then do the other two corners. It sometimes takes 3 or 4 goes to get perfect, but it seems to be the best way ive tried.

Good idea for the astig.
For optical flapping I allways defocus the center to get a cross with a certain width I than turn the flapping screws untill these lines are even wide top and bottom and left and right. Than focus middle and corners. Works very fast!

I'm experiencing the same with my high hours P19LUG : Red is easy and very well focused with no effort, and about the green it's not perfect in the center

I'm experiencing the same with my high hours P19LUG : Red is easy and very well focused with no effort, and about the green it's not perfect in the center I replaced the tubes and in doing so, both the new greens i have get great sharpness all over, but the simulation grade EISEMANN tube is much better over the standard original.
