Well some of these you should be able to test at the connectors. In service manual page 101, bottom of page see CN2104. Test for the v+12_a, v-12_a and v+5AD. If all good then you will need to test regulator, ic2181 for v+3R3_DA output. If you cannot access this regulator assembled then solder a wire to the output, put it back together and then test on the wire.
If all this test fine then go to connector cn2101 (page 98) and test for v+5D and v+3D. If these test fine then on the board locate R2051 and R2052 and test both for zero ohms.

Rather ask a stupid question than mess up some more....On the right side appears to be the PCB connector to do the 1st test. Which of the many grds do I use? Are the pins numbered 1 thru 7 and then 8 thru 14 ? I see (2) pins 5 and 6, v+12_a use the grdA0 next to it pin 7-8? I see (2) pins 1 and 2, v-12_a use the grdA next to it pin 3-4? I see (2) pins 9 and 10, v+5AD use the grd5i next to it pin 11? Thanks

+12 is 11.83V and -12 is -11.83, but 5V is 9.03V ??!?
On page 160 of manual I found pin outs.
I see no Dac bridge in the above post?

According to the SM the 9v could be normal for your model.
Do you mean you cannot see the image in the post? I can see it.

Here's a photo of the topside of the board, I can get to these solder points to test....the connector at the top left is CN2104, in the middle of the photo are the 2 regulators. The 5v to the left, and the 3 volt....Can you tell me which solder point would be the output of the 3V? Thanks again Rick

You should be able to test at the circled point which should be the + side of C2181. You could also use the - leg for your neg probe if you want.

I've acquired a fully working Onkyo tx-nr905 for cheap, since this receiver cost 4x's what the Pioneer did new, I'm going to be preoccupied with it for the next week or 2. But I will get back to this Pioneer. If you can help me upgrade the firmware on the onkyo from 1.07 to 1.09, thats my current project.
thanks Rick
