I'm working on a pioneer 1122 that was overloaded I pulled the power supply board off a working vsx 5223 and tried on the 1122 receiver. To see if I could help centralize the short. I had no different results on the 1122 when tried to power up using the board from my working 523 unit. After reinstalling the boards back to their orginal units. My 523 receiver trips a relay when I plug it in. When power button is pressed the relay clicks and nothing else. I am assuming I may have triggered protection mode on the board when I tried it on my faulty unit??? I've tried holding down a few button combinations to reset the relay, but no luck. A few combinations will give me a relay click after about three seconds but that is it. Does anyone know the exact buttons I need to press on the 523 unit?or could I have damaged my working circuit board perhaps

On the 523, if it is protection error, press and hold "advanced surround and standby/on" for 2 seconds and the unit should turn on.

OK,yeah it seems to not be fixing my problem for some reason. I've tried that combination and I'll get the relay click after the 2 seconds. But I'm still getting no display or anything. Is there a way to Jump the relay? Bc I know there is nothing wrong with my 523 system. It worked fine until I tried the circuit board in my 1122. And if something is already shorted out on my 1122, wouldn't the relay protect, the STILL WORKING board? What would be the point if these relays if not? I've always been an avid pioneer fan. But for as far as fault protection, this will in turn be my third unit I've lost due to these relays any suggestions for a more sturdy receiver. I know I've been pushing my 1122 pretty hard BC I have klipsch r-28s for my mains and I turn it up LOUD, and play music for a few hours at a time. I intend on amping them externally before I hurt my 1122 but unfortunately a few hours of all but maxed was more then the ol lil pioneer can handle with those speakers

Relays do not protect anything, well other then the speakers with the output relays. But not the receiver. Exactly what board did you swap?

It was the board that the ac power cord connects to.

Where there is not much on that board that could of gotten damaged. But you would have to do some testing to see what is going on. Almost sounds like it could be a bad relay.
