Would be awesome if you could adjust that to get the fine adjustment steps smaller!

after speaking with dummyload regarding the modified bin file i decided to at least try flash one of my 909's. i cannot for the life of me get it to enable the "upload" button when selecting the bin file. i poured through all the threads on here and even the flashing pdf by hulio... i renamed the bin extension to lower case and it still wont enable "upload"! what am i doing wrong?
it keeps giving me an error message saying "file must be extension *.bin !" - ridiculous. the file is "CINE221_EDIT.bin"...
that program is buggy and incomplete.

Have you tried with staying within the conventional 8.3 file naming?

hmmm. i have to admit, i am not sure what you are talking about? what is 8.3 file naming? i even tried "CINE221.bin", "cine221.bin", "blah.bin"... still not accepting the file.
i even typed in the directory in the edit box - wont reveal the upload button still.

8.3 naming like in the old DOS days: xxxxxxxx.yyy max 8 characters as name and 3 for the extension, but it seems you already tried it... Also I saw problems with older programs reach files in deep folders. try to put your bin file in the C:\ root folder for example.

that was it...! i had the file on my desktop in a folder called "barco". i simply moved it to "c:\barco" and it now works. this is poor... but thank you gjaky! for your prompt replies and advice. i hope that i would have eventually worked it out, but we'll never know... when i clicked upload, it failed to "acknowledge". 909's got power and switch is on, but not actually powered on (not displaying anything.) i looked in the diagnostics tab and all voltages are at 0v. i am starting to think my understanding of "standby" is incorrect? EDIT: hmmm... under the diagnostics tab theres a list and you can choose "present" or "history". "present" has a red cross next to it. but the program says down the bottom that it's connected...?

There is 2 programs, one of them i tried did something simular.
Did you put the jumper on the board prior to trying upload?

Justin, does your controller was fully functional before flashing ? Jumper W3 is normally needed only for bringing back to life a non working controller ( due to data-corruption of course, not a broken component ). Hence the name "emergency modus". However it won't harm to try with the jumper in place, to see if that Red Cross disappears from the "present". Location of the jumper is next to the Lattice chip, red arrow in this picture: Other things I could think off right now are: Your DB9 cable must be straight, not twisted. Wrong projector address. Wrong baudrate ( must be 9600 )

Put a jumper on w3 like Case and Hulio said the "no acknowledge" should be gone this way and forget about the diagnostics ,the main power supplys are off in standby so the chips on the smps2 to give that information to the controller gave no power. Don't forget to remove the jumper after programming because the projector can not be started with this jumper in place.

thank you all for the advice, this is such a great forum.
i am too flaked to try this right now. i will have another go tomorrow with the above advice. i only just finished carefully refitting my 909 panels i picked up from the panel shop down the road. i had them spray the cases black! they look absolutely magic!
i also just sent you an email dummyload with the purpose written bit shifting program i only just finished and compiled for you. give it a go... let me know what you think? it should do the trick.
regards,
justin.

alright... i turned the projector on and the projector address is 1.
i pinched a jumper plug thing from a spare optical drive i had laying around and fit it to w3 next to the lattice chip as suggested.
turned the pc on and fired up the barco program to find i still have the same issue.
i checked in the device manager that the rs232 is actually working and it all appears fine.
i checked the settings in the device manager for the rs232 board and theyre all default and exactly the same as the barco program.
baud rate is 9600.
i have the correct projector address: 1.
the cable is female to female but has a male to male adapter plug on the end.
the barco program says connected, but the red cross is still there.
i am not sure where to turn now? thanks in advance

I have had 3 front RS232 boards fail. One was after I flashed one board and then would not work. They all had shorted transistors on the front RS232 board. No idea why. Changed them and all good.
