Sorry it took so long to reply, been cleaning out the snow!
The fans do run for the cool down after it shuts down every time, I don't know if it does shut down every time, but I'll check that out quick.

Okay, again, sorry it took so long to get back to this! I've been tinkering with some CRT monitors as well. Anyway, yes the projector does shut down every time, so at least its consistent

I thought we were past it shutting down. Go back and remove PC102 and see if the shutting down stops.

Does it shut down every time or does it sometimes run for awhile? Do the fans run for the cool down sequence when it does shut down? You last said that above ^ So that is where I picked up from I'll remove PC102 and see how it behaves.

I just thought I'd update you MT as well as anyone whose reading this thread. This is a common issue on this machine, so I'm sure someone sometime will come along requesting help with this too. I have shelved the projector, as I don't have the time to keep working on it. It's now become a parts machine for other PJ's. Apologies to you MT, and anyone else, but sometimes when the horse is dead, it's just best to leave it lie.

I don't blame you. Some things are just not worth the time.

So I have this hitachi WX4021N, and another hitachi (WX3015WN) and they both have the same problem. When you plug them in, the power LED blinks a couple times as normal before going to standby/ready. When you press power, the power LED turns green for a second or 2 at most, the projector powers up for about as long, and then shuts off, the power LED then blinks as it did when first plugged in, and is back in the standby state. Pressing power again repeats this endless cycle. I also have one hitachi WX4021N with almost the same problem. The only difference is that the power led does not have enough time to turn green when I press the power switch, so the shuts off is more quickly. I know that's an old thread, but I want to say that I found the solution to the problem. It's not in output controller, it's in input "controller", the PC101 phototriac coupler APT1211 is faulty, probably the emitting LED is dimmed. So the power source does not receive enough current to start. I replaced the phototriac APT1211 with MOC3052, it's with 6 pins instead of 4, but it was the only one that I found locally.
