Guys, I have someone locally in Singapore that wanted to dispose his non working 808 and have ask me as to whether I would like to take it or he will put it in the thrash. My first thought was whether the magnetics can be used for my Marquee 9518 or maybe take the tubes as spare for my other friend G70. Is 808 and G70 tubes compatible? Secondly, do you think any component from 808 can be use for 9518 marquee to improve picture quality?

Sad that nothing can be salvage from Barco 808. My thought was 8" tubes would be the same for all but it's not.

It depends on what is the problem with that 808, if the quadroupler/splitter/EHT board would still work in it, you could makes some money of it at least.

If it has 2/4 pole flare magnets of the good old style ones, and your 9518 has those anoying impossible to use 2/4/6 pole flare magnets, you should at least grab those. And the 2/4 pole ones mostly makes for a better end result not having to mess around trying to 0 the 6 pole one.

Thanks Kurt. I will take the flare magnet then and see if they produce better result. I will try to find out from the owner to see what is the actual problem with this unit.

Just check with the owner that he did not used the 808 for a few years due to lines on the screen. The only thing that is missing from this set is the quad which was taken out by his friend who still owned 909.
