Hello all, So my Pioneer Elite VSX-30, equivalent to the VSX-1020 from what i found, started to shut down by itself. When it does that i starts again by itself and continues until: - it freezes - comes into a stable, usable state (it happens less and less often) I disconnected everything (only the power cable remains) and the unit still behaves the same. When the AVR is connected to the wall, the HDMI led blinks. I noticed that i the HDMI stops blinking, the receiver does not powercycle and is stable. As long as the HDMI led blinks, the unit power cycles until it freezes. I have very limited skills in troubleshooting electronics but i have a multimeter Any help appreciated. Benson

I have heard of this problem many times with this model but i have not yet heard of a repair. It is not something you can troubleshoot with a meter. Maybe you can try a master reset and see if it helps.

Pity, i was counting on you mastertech! When you say master reset is it equal to the factory reset? Holding enter and power -> brings you to the menu where you can select the factory rest? If so, i did it already and no changes. Thank you for answering mastertech (and quickly on top of it). EDIT: i just checked the service manual for the VSX 1020 (that's the one for my AVR, the manual for the VSX 30 is just an update wit the different schematics) and there is no mention of the HDMI led blinking, i'm disappointed at Pioneer. I'm still going to research a bit more but if i can't fix it, any advice on what i should do with the device?
