Hi Mac, this is the first of the four units I decided to look at since it had a label "No Power". First thing I tried was something I learned many CE pieces will respond to when acting flakey. I held the power button down While plugging it in the waited about 20 seconds and hit power again and it powered on but the Power on stayed on and did not go out. Unplugging it you could hear a relay click.
Now on visual inspection I noticed a lot of corrosion or other residue on the main HDMI board. I'll add pics. That crap doesn't look good to me. I will pull it and clean it with denatured alcohol but what should I look at first besides the cleaning of the board? EDIT: I pulled the 13 pin connector to the amp board I believe its called and MCACC light would blink. I did the rest as described in another thread here for a similar receiver and got the Power on again but then it acts as described above. Athaansios

I've had them like that before. They usually clean up fine. When your done with clean up give me more specifics on what happens on attempted normal power up. If no power up are any leds blinking?

It was just the corrosion!! I pulled the ribbon cable and it was really stuck on there. most of the blades were BLACK !!! I cleaned it all with denatured alcohol and some radio Shack lubricant/Cleaner on the blades and connector too. Plugged it in and it powered up with the screen and all!!
I'll test it tomorrow with speakers and see how it works amp wise. But I bet that it will be fine.

Well that was easy enough. Wish they were all like that.

Just hooked this up into my system And all is working great! Now to program my harmony remote to operate it. I must say my Outlaw 1070 is about three time heavier!! But its outdated with no HDMI or the new audio codecs. So this will be in my system till I find a better one to fix Athanasios

Just downloaded the iControlAV from the Apple App store. This is awesome!!!
No more need for my Airport Express to stream the music. But i still need it to connect the receiver to the internet.
Plus I love the internet radio!!! My favorite Station 102.1 the Edge from Toronto is on there!! Love it!!
Thanks mac!!!

My receiver, does the same exact thing, but there is no corrosion on the HDMI board, at least I can't see it. Maybe it was water damaged? If factory reset it, it will show Power on and it will stay there. Nothing else can be done with the receiver. The op's situation I had in on a Harman Kardon AVR1700. It would start up, but there is no sound. Everything else, it's working though. Some traces disintegrated from corrosion. I had to jump it with some wire.

I can reset it(turn on), by holding the Power on button for 10 seconds. The same way, I can shut it down too.

Looks like you have been banging your head for a while now. Start a new thread with a short explanation of the symptoms and I will then assist. Do not do any more with it until I look over some schematics.
