It's worth a shot. I have read where some have installed a small fan. Anything to try to cool them down is good.

I ordered some copper ramsinks from Ebay a week ago that should be here soon. What's the best way to adhere them to the chip?

Ok So I had time to get some heat sinks and install them on my Onkyo's I thought both Heat sinks came with adhesive on them but only the larger one I ordered did. So I just used some double sided mounting tape from 3M I found at Home depot. Its a little thicker than I like but for now it is still allowing the heat sink to conduct some heat to it from the chip. On my next order I'll get the proper adhesive.

That looks good. Are they getting nice and hot? Any problem with the cover clearance?

That looks good. Are they getting nice and hot? Any problem with the cover clearance? the larger one is getting hot. But that is not the chip that causes the audio issue. I think the smaller one would benefit from a better specific adhesive. I was going to try silicon, a very thin film of it. But what I did notice is that where that chip is located the cover above it does not have any slats in it to allow heat to rise out of the enclosure. I bet drilling holes in the cover right above that chip would help keeping it cooler. No issue with clearance either. Athanasios
