Do you mean that there are a LOT of micro cracks in the C element? So many that it's kind of a pearly effect? I have seen that. In fact I have two that I saved from when I got a huge pile of clear C elements that had been rejected by a company that did a lot of retubing work. I went through the reject pile (literally hundreds of clear C elements) and took out some that are quite good enough to be used. But I pitched at least 200 that were just too scratched to be satisfactory in the dumpster. Seems a shame, but heck, what else am I going to do with scratched C elements that would always cause complaints? I only have about 60 or so good ones so it's not like they're in short supply anyway.
I also found two that have a very obvious yellow-green stain on them. How they can get that kind of contamination from a tube assembly is a bit of a mystery to me. I'm guessing the glycol in those (projector type unknown) got so contaminated that it started attacking the metals in the assembly and the stain is plated-out metal compounds. Just a guess.
Yes, I can spare a good green C element for you to replace that one.

Yes theyre fine cracks, but theyre not that close together that they cause a pearl finish, theyre around 1-2mm apart.
