Receiver shows no signs of life, gave up on it a while back. All the fuses are good, transformer checks out, I have 12v into the hdmi board at connector P9011B, only thing I noticed was that Q8961 gets hot to the touch. I have no voltage at Q7018. Not sure if that matters or where to go from there. If you need a copy of the service manual PM me.

Where is Q8961? I am not seeing it on the schematic.

Page 23 shows it on the actual board, it's slightly up and right from connector P9011B. On the schematic p53 it's to the right of Q8701.

Ok, got it. Well don't know yet if they are related so you can check both. Test DC voltage on Q7018, pin 1,3,5. Check dc voltage on Q8961, pins 2,3.

Q7018 I have 0vdc on all pins, on Q8961 I have around 1vdc on pin 2 that's pulsing and Ov on pin 3.

test voltage both sides of L8961.

Was pulsing on both sides, I unplugged it and plugged it back in and now it reads 12v on both sides of L8961 and 12v at pin 2 0v at pin 3 on Q8961. Maybe I shorted something testing it? Receiver still won't turn on...

Remove L8962 and recheck voltages of Q8961, pins 2,3 and 7.

After removing L8962 on Q8961 pin 2 12v pin 3 0v pin 7 5.3v and it is still getting very hot.

Well I am not happy finishing this test with the feedback line disconnected but if it is still getting hot then I would say it is most likely bad. I would also do an ohm test across C8967 with the unit unplugged just to make sure something didn't short it out. If the ohm test is real low then I would remove Q8961 and redo the ohm test.

That looks ok. Replace Q8961.

Replaced Q8961, receiver is still dead, but IC isn't getting hot anymore. On Q8961 pin 2 11.6v pin 3 0.3v pin 7 5.6v
