Hi I'm new to this forum, thus would like to introduce myself as someone that loves to tinker and sadly most of the time mess up. Well not most of the time.
I own a Acer P1270 and have recently been trying to bypass the lamp UART protocol. I've been unsuccessfull and burned what I would believe to be a transistor on the main board since I touched the no 1 and 2 pins (Flag / TxD+ (Phototransistor Collector) and Flag / TxD- (Phototransistor Emitter) together.
I'm hoping to completely bypass the Lamp circuitry as I would like to play with a different light source.
Currently the projector turns on speeds up the lamp fan as if its overheating and shuts down.
Is there a way to completely bypass the lamp ?
Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi MT
I was reading on another forum, the guy gave pretty good advice and it worked. Do you know who MAC is?

Yes I do. He wants to know if you can take a picture of your ballast board where the main wire harness connects and is it marked on the board what the pins are for?
