Here's an odd one.
I have a Mesa/Boogie Mark III guitar amp with the international power option. There is a six position voltage selector switch, from 100 to 240 volts.
This particular amplifier will not turn on if connected to a specific outlet in my house. It behaves as if there is no power at the outlet. But it works fine on every OTHER outlet.
Any other piece of equipment works perfectly with the "dead" outlet.
My local power is 117 volts and the selector switch on the amplifier is set properly.
Figure that one out.

Just a hunch. Is it possible that the outlet is wired wrong? Check and make sure the hot/neutral leads are not interchanged at the back of the socket.

Perhaps the ground wasn't connected to the socket on that one? Not too many devices use the ground but an amp with voltage selector might.
