DIGITAL WATCH DOG DW-VMAX 4 SECURITY CAMERA DVR

Hey all I recently had to put a cctv set up on my moms house because shes getting old and watches alllll the grand kids and its nice to have something to fall back on for when someone comes knocking on the door and she dont remember who it waws or what they look like lol. Anyways i got a Digital Watch Dog DW-VMAX 4 CAMERA DVR  OFF letgo or some site like that and it worked fine until i tried upgrading the firmware. Anyways now ive contacted the makers themselves and all they did was tell me they cant help me because its too old ! They did manage to tell me i needed to update my firmware and gave me instructions and the links. Now my damn DVR says "Make sure my USB is firmly connected " Ive tried diffrent uSB sticks both the front and rear USB's on the machine itself and still the same message. If anyone has had this problem or can help me update my firmware that would be so AWESOME !! THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP IN ADVANCE  . Its greatly appreciated
