There's no service manuals online so wondering if anyone has been able to do this.

While I don't know specifically the Oppo, but in general, ususaly there are small latches made out of the tray's plastic material, those are stopping the tray to fall out of the assemby. By pulling back and forth the tray you should be able to locate where the latch is...
