Hi all Has anyone tried high resolutions in an interlaced format yet? I have run both 2560x1440 and 2560x1600 @ both 48Hz and 60Hz, using a PC with nvidia card and making custom resolutions. 2560x1440p @48hz was very good for 720p material, it looked nicer than the 1920x1080p image did.

Hello ! I've setup a 2880x1620@48Hz ; just mid-way between Full-HD and 4K. I need to finish to downcode a 4K movie to test it and I'll tell you By the way, I've searched a lot, do someone know a graphic card with an analog output with DAC over 400MHz ? Pratically all have that pixel clock, avoiding higher refresh rate and resolution... ( even I know PJ bandwith wouldn't follow) Robin

3840x2160i : On my side, the NVidia thing just fail.

In fact being in interlaced, the pixel clock remain the same as in progressive. So that's why it fails... Even at 48Hz, it's way over the 400MHz pixel clock limit for analog outputs.

Should be able to do it via HDMI output, since they can output 3840x2160p @30hz

Hard to find any video cards with analog outputs at all these days, ive got a few older ones around that still do, but none ive seen are over 400MHz either.

Yep, only the DAC have that limitation, digital outputs can go higher (and depend of the model). But 30Hz the 909 won't lock up (would be unwatchable anyway), the problem is just displaced, so what hardware is able to convert that in analog ?

I imagine the MOOME could, i dont know.
You cant do 30Hz, but the output of that over HDMI is progressive, so 48Hz or 60Hz interlaced would be simular.

Hmmm, itll do 2560x1600p 48Hz without an issue

At which pixel clock ? For that resolution, on my side, NVidia propose 213 to 273MHz pixel clock depending if the timings

No idea, i didnt look, but i used the timings it set.

While Moome card theoretically can go up to 250MHz, it is not adviseable, Kurt reported several times that the Moome card starts to fall apart beyond 200MHz pixelclock. So in other words any VGA card with analog output will be better in bandwidth. on the other forum I have thread where I tested a handful of very old VGA cards. Generally all the dedicated cards I tested performed very well. I tested some intel integrated solutions as well, interestingly the oldest one in a i945GZ chip performed the best, then I tried some laptops both with Q45 (GMA4500MHD graphics core) chipset, and other with sandy bridge i5 CPU (HD3000), both were criminaly bad, they don't not even support 1080P over VGA, and no surprise... As for the original question, I've heard about a Barco (!) medical videocard that had 550MHz RAMDAC, but that card could only do grayscale... info here: www.barco.com/en/product/barcomed-5mp2-aura-76hz#top

I would think pushing a videochain that barely resolves 100Mhz pixel clock would look terrible, and 48hz, i would need a bucket next to my seat to puke in a few times during a movie, why not just run 1080P 72hz.? thats below 200Mhz perfect motion, no flicker.
I have tested 320Mhz pixel clock on the Marquee with the test generator, and sure it can sync, and show a image, but i would never be able to get the magnetics and focus to come around ½ way decent for that, and ill bet that heat sinks will light up in the dark after a few hours of operation.

Kurt there is easily more than 100MHz on a modded Barco.
48Hz is quite fine to watch without a drama, its sharp and looks great.
