Hello everyone, my name is Jonathan I am pretty new to repairs but have some decent knowledge on soldering and replacing DSP chips. I just recently signed up for an account and recently purchased a NR616 from eBay and ordered a new DSP for it because it has one the "D830K013BZKB4" I believe that can be problematic. I got the "D830K013DZKB4" and just soldered it on. So far, it still continues to have no sound. It has several question marks in the DSP menu when you hit the display button plus standby button to check the firmware's of different parts within the receiver. I believe I need to either do something in PUTTY or something and interrupt the boot sequence if someone could teach me or use flashcat USB to reprogram the NAND with a working .bin file for the 616 that'd be great. I have read a lot of Tjmotter's knowledge and have messaged him about this. In the meantime, I was hoping someone else could maybe help me out? I know it can be hard to find the right knowledge on receivers and their firmware but I really wanna get this receiver back up and working. I have a good feeling about this repair!

I found a firmware dump for the TX-NR616 here: www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic3435371.htmlThe website is in Polish and I think you'll need to register to download the file but it might prove easier to use this to reprogram your NAND by removing it from the board. From the file size I guess its for Q3002 (TC58DVM92A5TA10 TSOP48 64Mb NAND) which will be the one you want to correct after fitting your new DSP. This file will only be for loading directly into a blank or erased chip (with zero bad blocks) once removed and not via a port on the HDMI board itself.
#EDIT: you'll need to find and edit the network MAC address in the .bin before loading it or your receiver will change to the one in the file.

Thanks so much for your research, I have been searching for that all day! Now another issue is occurring when I attempt to turn on the receiver there is no display, just clicks when I hit the power button. I might have messed something up inside when disconnecting the wires and board. I am going to double check my connections again. Thanks again for finding that file! =)

I've had issues like this when putting things back together. Usually a connector hasn't gone back correctly or I've missed one completely. Some of the Onkyo ones require you to press part of the connector body to insert the wires. Worth double checking it all if it was OK before you took it apart.
If you use the .bin file from the link I posted, read your NAND and save the file before erasing it just in case. Then erase and check for bad blocks. If there are any, you'll need to buy some new chips and find one with zero bad blocks before loading the new file.

Thanks for your advice, I have tested the voltage coming in and it is 120V right from the power cord. I notice there is a lack in voltage where the white and yellow wires leave the high voltage board to go into the power supply. I have replaced two resistors and a diode on this power board so far and will soon replace a transistor on the HDMI board. I am following a tutorial from a post I read by TJmotter in the past. If anyone has any help to offer, please do!

Hi! I have now two of this receivers. I fitted a new dsp chip(i installed chips from same source more than 10 receivers, 509 and 609 and all of them working). After the chip replacement the receivers works. First more than one week, the second i tested two days. But i updated the firmware for last version on both receivers. After the update the sound dissapears and i have question marks at the D version. The dsp and the nand are working, because i tested them before. The update make the problem. What i do now? If there some way to downgrade the firmware. Forced usb update is not working of course, because the usb don't have power while the dsp booting is not succeded. Thanks!

Hi, Can you specify the source , because in India only empty IC are available. It will work only in stereo mode rest all mode having very low sound and distorted.
