I don't think this will work. I tried to repair a Onkyo TX-NR808 and put a D810 in place of a D830 by mistake, which didn't work.
The D830 chips are harder to get and more expensive than the D810 too.

I think Onkyo fixed some with Rev D 400 chips but probably fitted a 20M crystal and revised firmware to make it work. I tried changing the crystal but without the right firmware it wasn't going to work. I dismantled my 808 for spares because it was an old model. I used the main power transformer to convert a US spec Pioneer VSX53 I bought on eBay to 230V operation.

If you send me a copy of the two files I can also take a look if you want. I can compare them to the ones from my working LX86. IC9704 is for the TI DSP, which is an almost identical device to the ones in mine. Good morning, I have an Lx86 that appears in the firmware version in DSP ***. I bought a firmware programmer, I read the forums but I don't have the programs for the two ICs. Can you send them to me on a data transfer site or something similar? You tell me how much I owe you for the firmware and I pay you. Thanks.

Have you read my post on the LX56 repair? repairalmostanything.com/thread/901/pioneer-sc-lx56-repairI fixed that by copying address range 0-10000h from IC9704 to IC9004. Before I did this, I had to replace both DSP chips, IC9002 and 9702 because they had failed, causing the firmware corruption. After this firmware 'patch' I had UE22 back but this was cleared with a full firmware update from USB. You need to replace both DSP chips and fix the firmware. It won't work with just one or the other.

I also read that topic, I ordered the two DTS Chips from Ebay but I said that maybe you also saved the two firmware by writing them on IC 9703 and IC 9004.

Thanks Yes IC9704 looks corrupt to my mind. Without a suitable, functioning firmware, of course, only speculation. IC9004 looks good to me. Hi, did you ever get that SC-LX89 to work again? I have a SC-LX89-K/SYXJ8 which began dropping sound from time to time, even stuttering and dropping out audio while playing a movie. Sometimes after visiting the home menu audio would be dead, but recently even when changing from say playing a movie to playing a music file from my SHIELD PRO media player. Usually I've found that switching SIGSEL from HDMI -> THROUGH and then back again in the AUDIO P. meny the audio starts playing again. But now lately, the only way to get audio back is to unplug the power from the mains and then just let it be for over a day or so, then when I plug the power back in the amplifier turns on and works for a while, almost always until I power it off and then on again later that same day, it will be without audio again. When this "no audio" happens, the display still indicates signal, even number of channels and configuration, DOLBY ATMOS, DTS-HD, DIGITAL PLUS etc, but it's totally silent. The only way to get audio out of it is from any analog inputs and in PURE DIRECT setting, such as from the built in tuner or from vinyl. Even Multi channel input works, but only in PURE DIRECT. Now, the other day, I could not get it to work anymore, even with my workarounds it did not output any audio, so I checked the AVR for error codes in service mode (vol. to ---, multizone off, standby, hold ENTER and ZONE2 ON/OFF simultaneously for 5 secs) but there where no errors, and I have never had any UE22 error. (By the way the accumulated time on the AVR is ~17000h). I did a service mode USB backup before I tried a full reset of the AVR (standby, hold ENTER for 5 secs, RESET NO>YES>OK>ENTER) to no avail. Still no audio. I then tried to force update firmware, I was already on the latest 1-329-011-733-208 (421) so I had to do the force update procedure (multizone off, standby, connect USB stick, hold TUNE^(UP) and ZONE2 ON/OFF simultaneously for 5 secs) (note: pressing only TUNE^(UP) ends up in non-forced update mode). The display indicates 1-329011733*** until the network module is fully booted (ca 1 minute) after which the display shows the full version number (without any *** in the DSP section): 1-329011733208 so I guess the DSP:s do not have any problems reading the firmware from EEPROM? Well anyway, I proceeded with the force update firmware procedure and it concluded after some 20 minutes or so, 100% ok. Powered on the AVR; still no audio. I've since tried to downgrade to 1-289-011-722-193 (355), then upgrade step by step 1-317-011-729-205 (396), 1-324-011-733-206 (406), 1-325-011-733-206 (407), 1-329-011-733-206 (412) and lastly the Pandora Update Only: 1-329-011-733-208 (421), each time fully resetting the system after upgrade. Everything to no avail. Still no UE22. And still no audio. Could this really be my D808K013DPTP5/CS49844A-CQZ fault?, which by the way are at 35-40 deg Celsius each after a couple of minutes powered on. Or could it be something simpler like a voltage regulator? Or maybe a reflow of the T/LQFP-chips? I would be very grateful for some guidance in this matter, suggestions to try etc. I am by no means a professional but I do know what it takes to desolder these chips even though I do not have the equipment for it at home. Fault tracing signals with a multimeter I could probably do but I do not have an oscilloscope. My plan is to find out as much as I can about this specific error and then find someone near me in Sweden that could help me if there's need to replace any of the QFP's or a reflow. I would say I would gladly pay 6-800€ for a repair as getting a new replacement for this 2400€ amplifier which I bought for some 7 years ago would cost much more. BTW, I use a HDfury 8K VRROOM 40Gbps to split HDMI audio from my SHIELD to my LG OLED77C1/AVR as the LG can't do DTS and the SC-LX89 can't do Dolby Vision passthrough. But when I am doing testing I connect a computer with USB-soundcard or SHIELD directly to HDMI input of the AVR.

Hey trixeo,
yes the Pio 89 works now again error free and I am more than happy with that 👍 But without the help from someone here on the Forum I would fail that’s for sure ☝️ I was also able to fix a second Pio 89 from my brother with failing HDMI Out‘s on it 😎
Regards

I've read the thread so I see you got a lot of help from this deleted user, sad to see he/she's gone from here. Do you think reflow, voltage regulator, or should I check the firmware in the two eeproms?
