Could it be a bad previous firmware update that's preventing it from updating this time? Like I said before it says: Sub Firm Updating: 82 min and that's where it sits :S

So you turned it off, then held the up and down arrow and while holding turned it on and the display started flashing in 1 second intervals and then you shut it off. Then you turned it back on with a hard wire internet connection, waited at least 2 minutes for it to connect and then went to internet radio and you were able to receive stations via internet. Then attempted the firmware upgrade?

Successful update is usually 5 minutes.

Successful update is usually 5 minutes. Yeah I just turned it back off, it was still at 82 minutes. I figured it wasn't supposed to take a day and forever.

Well then that could be the problem. Someone may have attempted an update and that is when it started haveing problems. Let me give you the SB info and you can try that. It does not say what it is suppose to fix so after you do the SB if it still does not work properly then try the update again. This is for the 3808, on the digital board locate CC969 and remove it. Leave it empty. Then find RR956. Should be 100kohms. Replace it with a 10kohm resistor. That is it. Then try.

Sorry for the delay MT, I got busy on an older receiver yesterday, I'm currently working on the 3808CI though so I'll let you know how the SB modification goes on it. Wouldn't surprise me if the SB fixed it, but I'm not holding out my hopes that it will work, learned my lesson on being too optimistic with these things

MT, I'm going to need the board number so I can locate those parts, I've been looking over the boards, none of them say digital board specifically. I'm guessing its not the HDMI board because those parts aren't on it, nor are they on the board directly under it.

I must have the revised version, that capacitor is gone, and that resistor is 10k ohms on my HDMI board.

Well I guess then without being able to do an update you are kinda stuck.

Have you tried doing an update with the 3808 you just got?

Nope I haven't made an attempt on the new 3808CI unit since it's working.

MT Can that HDMI board be ordered from Denon? Also, the AVR-2808CI, that one doesn't have LAN capability, but has the same issue, what would be the cause on that one?
