Hi lads
So I have above avr which has no sound. Problem is well known here, where update will stuck at 70%. Long story short, I've replaced so far: - brand new SPI chip, loaded with latest DSP firmware dump - DSP crystal oscillator - DSP chip - SDRAM
Onkyo will play music for about 30-90 minutes and the sound will go off. DSP fw version shows odd characters, update via usb or internet will stuck at 70% ending with 1-83 error message. If I at this point, reload spi firmware with my programmer (btw I've used CH341 and RT809H) sound will come back but again, only for like 30-90 minutes or less. The 3.3V and 1.8V rails look really smooth on my oscilloscope. Does anyone know, what on earth is going on with this Onkyo?

I remember, that I have read somewhere, that all the firmware modules have to be from the same version. Can't be one newer than the other. Where is Todd when you need him? I guess, he is done with this hobby.

Are you using the original flash IC or a replacement ? I've tried original flash (checked against bad sectors) which didn't work and then original Spansion one.

I guess, he is done with this hobby. Thing is, all the other fw modules are up to date including my dsp, and Onkyo shows no available updates. My current version is 1110-6060-1106 which is the latest one.

Sometimes there is a base firmware stored on a nand which can be invoked as a firmware restore with a key combination on the front panel. This will make all firmwares match.
Sounds like this is not his problem though. His flash is becoming corrupted after some time. That's why I asked if he was using the original flash or has tried with a good replacement.

So when you read the flash back is it different from the original that you wrote to it ?
I just saw you answered my first question in your first post btw, sorry bout that..

Well, I've finally found some spare time, and fixed this amp. Have a look at the image below. I think, this doesn't need explanation why DSP2 FW was keep getting corrupted. Internet update went absolutely fine, with lovely COMPLETE message at the end.

Nice work. No second guessing there. Looks like it was about ready to fall off.
