Hi everyone!
I turn to you in hope someone could point me in the right direction since I lack knowledge and experience in diagnosis of audio equipment. (My experience is in computer chip level repairs.)
Link to the service manual(pdf too big to attach it): Onkyo TX-NR609 Service Manual
I bought an Onkyo TX-NR609 receiver which initially produced no sound on speakers/headphones, there was no delayed relay click, speaker matrix icon didn't show up, USB/NET stuck in "Now initializing", instead of DSP/1st NET firmware version there were /?/?/?/?/?/?...
There was flux residue around the D830K013BZKB4 DSP chip (Q3001) on the HDMI board, some near smd resistors were out of their place and near connectors had burn marks.
I cleaned the board in US cleaner, reballed the DSP, checked and re-soldered the moved resistors according to the schematics. No change.
I then removed and flashed the NAND256W3A2BN6E (Q3002) with firmware for the TX-NR609 (source elektroda.pl).
I now get the delayed relay click, speaker matrix icons show up, I can access USB flash drive and internet radio/DLNA, DSP/1st NET firmware version shows.
I even get sound from speakers but ONLY when source is USB flash drive or internet radio/DLNA. I get no sound when source is tuner, analog inputs or HDMI inputs. Regardless if stereo, pure audio or direct is chosen.
When there is sound (from USB/DLNA) AMUT signal is -14.8V and when no sound (other sources), AMUT signal is 2.48V. I disconnected 47 ohm resistor (R636) from MPD70F3746GJ (Q701) mcu and pulled AMUT_C line to GND, thus disabled the muting circuit (AMUT signal is -14.8V permanently) but still get no sound from inputs other than USB/DLNA.
Which part of the circuit should I check? PCM9211 (Q301)? Is that the common point of failure for the analog and HDMI signals but signals from USB/Internet radio bypass it?
