I would be testing all voltages coming into the EHT board. Just be careful. I do not have the high voltage probe or tester, so can not be going that route. But i can say that all parts were tested in a spare 909 Pj from Curt. Am sure it was tested first. basically the cinemax would be fine if i use it for many hours adjusting and calibrating , straight for many days. But the quads or other HV part would conk out once i watch a video.

I have had this once but with a Marquee. The focus disappeared and a crack was heared than it returned. I tink it was caused by an old HV lead on the blue tube but I guess you have no old HV leads on the tubes? I also know it happened when I set the contrast higher than usual. Do you run in boost mode perhaps? I ran it at economy, the flyback turn overpoint at 130kHz and peaking at high frequency. Contrast at 50. These are adjusted at the cinemax menu page.

Are the high voltage leads clean? If there is black dust on them they might spark to the environment taking down quads and splitters. All parts are nice and clean, Every time i swapped in these parts Pj would work nicely for about two or three movies then goes in to shutdown or the quads would go. I am now very familiar with a dying quadrupler. It always would sizzle and the picture would go out of focus then go blank.

Were these all new parts and where did you obtain them? yes all parts and quads look clean, Most of it from Curt ,the last quad was from a 909 unit i just got from Curt. Quads had no bumps and no fine cracks,

Ok , Just swapped out the smps and the H def oard, still the same issue.Though it did started up nicely and was able to project video for a few seconds about three times. It seems it likes to start up when it is still cold but after successive shut downs , the pj just shuts down right after power up. i could rule out the eht ,smps and h def board at this point. I did notice the clicking noise coming mostly from the rgb video boards. And pulled out the rgb board, the voltage regulators were quite hot for something that was not used much. I will replace those 7905, 7805, 7912 7812 and report back later. Guys, hope anyone can help.am still having issues with this same Cinemax. it was not the controller board. Here goes: Clicking noises were arcing inside the splitter, after replacing the splitters the Pj would work for a few days. Then a new issue again , it goes into shutdown. Upon checking it was the second splitter. Then after replacing it,it was an eht board. after a third eht board. it was the quadrupler, after three quads , i am down to one good quad. What is causing all these, i swapped smps and h boards already, thinking something from the original pj is causing it. Hope someone could enlighten me , the Picture quality is quite good , but any new part i put in is good for three days only.

Its the controller board. Setting that jumper wont fry anything, the controller board will still mostly shut down, but the set will stay running and the synced image will remain. Yep , you are right. I have a spare controller here that has minor issues, the voltage diagnostics does not come up in the service menu page. Am trying to learn to reload the eprom. I have a USB to serial ( 9 pin ) cable. Will this work?

also the original rgb switcher was put bsck in, the hot regultors was just a sign of something pulling it down, did not replace the regultors

Ok , the pj is up and running for a good one hour. But still not sure, so far not much clicking. Also pulling up the installation menu and then switching between menu to regular 1080p video caused it to shut down. But no worries, it powered up right again.
Casey, i did not try the forced power up on the system board. Am chicken about it , might fry something(getting paranoid already ).
I was able to swap in a lot of boards.
First in is the rgb switcher, voila it powered up only to shut down after 5 minutes.
Second in, H def board, powered up but went in to shut down mode. Changed the smps still the same.
third the v sync board then the g2 diagnostic board.
Fourth the controller board still the shut down issue.
Then swapped in another smps , it powere up smoothly and maintained for 15 minutes.
i figured it was the smps, so then i put back the old controller board.
The pj would not power up and i have to put back the newer smps.
after that final swap in. I let it run for almost an hour, but am still not confident about it.

Forgot to tell you guys that, Before the shutdown issue there were sync issues with my lumagen and ps3. There were many clicking noises on and off with the barco when it is syncing with the lumagen..

I think the 5 volts in the newer hdmi format is doing something to the rgb board.
Using the lumagen 2020 started all this.
My other cinemax with an oppo 95 and same moomme barco card does not have sync issues.

There is also diagnostics in the menu's. red led on smps2 should be on when scan failure. red led on horizontal too when that unit fails. Do not seem to see any red leds lit on the smps. I will try the RGB switcher, Case the corvette man seems to have this same issue with his cinemax.
