My 909s has lost its focus on all RGB, and the whole image is modulating.
What i mean by modulating is like the magneting focus yolk on all three crts , are being pushed back and fort by an invisible hand.
Seems like there is a discoloration or slightly burnt resistor on the focus board (SR1 ).
I have swapped out all boards from smps to all the boards in the convergence tray and still no changes.
The only ones unswaooed are the Crts and the magnetic coils and also neck boards.
also prior to this , i had busted my vertical sync board and had two failed splitter,
I was using a ZIdoo 4k player and had some issues with the sync at first, but was able to have about 8 hours of good use,
Until it shut down, it was the splitter at first, then the vertical board , then another splitter , then lost focus and image modulation.
What should i look into, had four good smps board changes already, still the same, even the power factor board was swapped.

My only source for cine 9s would most likely be overseas these days.
would really have to contend with shipping costs. Nice to hear from you again Hulio,
Cheers,

am looking into buying two 909 crts for a friend, Hopefully the cinemax or cine9.
He plans to stack them , i have both 909s and cinemax
so one of each models, from different seller is not a problem.
The lock down has made him want a good home theater
Luckily i convinced him into going analog.

me here in the Philippines.
three Barco 9 inch ( 2 cinemax and one 909) two mothballed 8 inch Barcos, with mint tubes. ( 808s Retros and 808 graphics).
no plans of selling these, as my family truly appreciates the PQ, (just watching Netflix movies.)

Barco Cinemax 2 pices, locally purchased in 2007 , they needed new quads and ehts. and one 909 from the Canadian technician.
all with moome cards, and oppo 95 with lumagen 2020.
my family is loving every minute of it, watching netflix movies/tv series.
No plans of going digital unless they redesign the laser projector.
Full color gamut of 4k digital tv / projectors seems useless, if you value flesh tones and beautiful landscape scenes versus 4k's neon and ultraviolet shades.
Glad to check back on this site after many years,i probably am one of the handful here in the Philippines still using CRt PJs.

Finally able to workout the scheimpflug issues, taking out the crt is one way, but tapping( while locking nut loosened ) on the u bolt whilst crt is mounted, can loosen the u bolt.
Its the corrosive gas or the residue of the coolant gasses causing the u bolt to stick on the plastic cam lobes.

Hope somebody can help me on this . And so the 909 is running well, with the old smps and replaced standby board. I suddenly fet the urge to tweak the focus , both electronically and mechanically, thus the scheimpflug adjustment.
On the red tube , with B1 to B2 loosened ,one of the scheimpflug adjustment seems stuck.
Peering inside the crt , i can see that the cam lobe is not turning, when adjusting scheimpflug.
How do i fix the cam without pulling out the crt tube?

Other situations that will generate a scan fail red led (excepting EHT, quad and splitter) are: 1. Some unserviceable fuses on the SMPS are blown (F201, F207). 2. You have a bad CRT (shorted). So first, try another SMPS module. To check the CRT's, with the projector turned off, disconnect the HV lead of the tube from the splitter (check the tubes one by one) and start the projector. If the scan fail led on the EHT stays off without a CRT connected to the splitter, that tube is bad. Careful, don't disconnect the HV lead of the quad from the splitter. If you have spare parts, swap the vertical and horizontal boards too, before checking the CRT's. HI agin Hulio and guys, Just wanted to report more on the smps and seeking assistance for repair.
After swapping in a good smps, i decided to swap the standby boards.
On the bad smps , i replaced it with a standby board from the good smps.
The supposed bad smps was now powering up normally w/o scan fail now, and so the real culprit was the stand by module.
Can this be just a case of bad capacitors on the standby board?
how should i go about repairing it,
hope i can get help on minor board repair from the masters.

This is a good layout and description of the scan fail circuit and what can cause a scan fail. This is very valuable info for me. Thank you very much.

Hulio , you were spot on. it was the smps and most probably one of the "unservicable fuse or fuses" were blown, we heard some pops.
Thanks Hulio, more power to you.

I am going back to my thread and would like to share the update on this PJ,
It was a couple of newer HDMI cable that was causing the fluctuations during the hdmi handshake or sync.
Switching to a an older hdmi cable solved the issue, i do not know why the older hdmi was able to solve it, or something in the newer 2.2 hdmi cables gives off a voltage back to the pj input.

HI Guys,
Need help on a new issue of my 909, Hope to hear form Hulio.
after swapping out all the HV parts, eht quad and splitter.I still can not get the crt running. The 17volts seem consistent and no other red leds but the ususal scan fail and some on the h board due mainlyt to no video signal.
Prior to the scan fail, there was a loud pop inside the PJ and i assumed it was a failing quad.
But after three quads and splitters and ehts still no go.
What else is there to cause this?
