I think you're right and that's the reason why I decided to put up the same scenario in this forum. Basically, I bought a match set MP modded VIM and MP modded neck board that is meant for lug tubes from Sparky015. Here is the link: www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39736MP neck board is good with no dimming issues except when I put on the MP VIM, the light output goes very dim that I need to adjust significantly on drive and G2 setting but still not viewable enough. I will put up the photos of the MP VIM but not sure how to do it right now.

Hi All,
I recently bought Mike Parker VIM 02 board about 2 months ago and the modification backdated to 2011. Initial impression is that the black level was fantastic and seem sharper than normal VIM that I have.
The only concern for this VIM is that I need to push drive & G2 setting very high and still not able to get the picture at the correct acceptable level for watching movies (quite dim). If I increase the contrast, the picture bloom quite badly because I'm using lug tube. I'm curious if anyone can help to pinpoint which component might impact all 3 tubes drive or G2 level.
I can change and solder any component just to get this VIM board to work correctly. Any feedback will be appreciated.
By the way, I did post the same question at Curt Palmer CRT Forum.

Still loving my EAD Theater Master 8000 and it's a good preamp definitely. Tried Casablanca 3 but doesn't excel as a preamp. Eventually sold the Casablanca 3 few years back.

It does make sense. In actual fact, I'm using EAD theater master 8000 and I'm not sure whether mc12 is much better than my current EAD theater master.
Both are high end but very old technology vs Dolby Atmos, DTS-X for newer AVR. What's your recommendation? Should I just buy newer AVR with Dolby Atmos and discard MC12 idea.

Thanks for the advised and it's quite tempting to gamble and buy this set for such a good price.
But not too sure whether this could be resolve and if not, then I might regret later. Thanks for sharing the manual though.

Hi,
I need some advice. I have someone trying to sell his Lexicon MC12 at a very good price of about USD$450 locally.
However, there is a slight problem with the unit as you need to power on/off 3 time to pass the diagnostic and go to normal. Even though the price is cheap, I just need an expert advise as to what might be the issue and can this be resolve and how.

I've not tried it personally as yet but Greg posted in Curt Palme claiming that the new VDC was razor sharp on lug tube with 9518LC projector.
I got the 9518 from Curt too and just installed lug tubes but currently using old Marquee neckboards.

Thanks Gjaky.
Since I'm using a lug tube now, I just need to change the jumper from B to A for the VDC neckboard 0340 right? Just desolder from B & resolder back to A. Or is there anything more to do beside that to use for lug tube?
Secondly, do I need to install the VDC 0340 neckboard G2 wire or it is not required at all for lug tube?

That's why I'm curious and still waiting for some expert here to advise as to whether the VDC 0340 & old neckboard can be used concurrently.

I got a lug tube set from Chris and if you look at Curt Palme thread, Greg mentioned that the VDC neckboards work for 9518 LC and resulted in razor sharp picture that he has to defocus on his set.
Can I use P/N: 2-270340-01B to green & red tube and use old neckboard on the blue tube?
