If you would like, I could offer to sell a NEC NP500/510 XGA LCD projector for $90 shipped, bulb life is around 50% used, genuine lamp, and I've reconditioned it so it performs/displays like it would out of the box. It has pretty good optics with a decent zoom distance (nice edge to edge/corner to corner focus), color, sharpness, etc... They're quite nice little presentation projectors really. It also has HDCP DVI. I could be sure if it would work for your application if I knew the throw distance of the projector, and also if that 3m screen size is width or diagonal? If you're interested let me know, I'd be happy to help you out!

Hey Ratty, due to the projectors age, it is most likely an electronic failure of the PSU, ballast, or possibly mainboard which controls the projectors other hardware. I wouldn't be able to tell you off hand what the exact issue with that projector is, as I've never worked on a HT1000 before myself. There is no way to test the bulb other than trying it in another machine, since there is no electrical connection until the mercury in the lamp is ignited. I did some checking on ebay, and there is a fully working used NEC HT1000 on there for $1 starting bid, and about $20-$25 shipping (assuming you're from the USA). I would go for that projector if at all possible, since you'd have a 2nd one to go off of if you wanted to attempt a repair on your current one, and at the very least, you'd have a working machine you are familiar with. the ebay link to the projector is: www.ebay.com/itm/NEC-ht1000-Projector-/162508596075?hash=item25d644636b:g:dgwAAOSw3gJZEKkrHope this helps!

I just thought I'd update you MT as well as anyone whose reading this thread. This is a common issue on this machine, so I'm sure someone sometime will come along requesting help with this too. I have shelved the projector, as I don't have the time to keep working on it. It's now become a parts machine for other PJ's. Apologies to you MT, and anyone else, but sometimes when the horse is dead, it's just best to leave it lie.

Does it shut down every time or does it sometimes run for awhile? Do the fans run for the cool down sequence when it does shut down? You last said that above ^ So that is where I picked up from I'll remove PC102 and see how it behaves.

Okay, again, sorry it took so long to get back to this! I've been tinkering with some CRT monitors as well. Anyway, yes the projector does shut down every time, so at least its consistent

Sorry it took so long to reply, been cleaning out the snow!
The fans do run for the cool down after it shuts down every time, I don't know if it does shut down every time, but I'll check that out quick.

Okay, got all that sorted out there, anyway...
Results of testing the + voltage on R214, when in standby its at 4v, when powered on it drops to about 3.6, when the lamp lights up it drops to 2.9, it made it down to 2.8 and then the projector shut down and went back into standby.
I'll check the pin voltages in the AM

Well MT we have a slight problem, R214 on the bad PS popped off when I went to put the test wire back on it, and to make matters worse, one of R214s ends came off too, so the resistor cannot be tested for its rating...
R213 which is right next to it is 1.2K, I don;t know if R214 is the same or not, but these are so small they are no numbers on them. I'll throw another 1.2k in place of the bad R214 and do what you asked and see what I find out.

The good PJ I have like this is brand new, so I'm trying not to use anything out of it that I don't have to
