And for what it's worth, if Mike does pop up on our forum in the future trying to sell stuff, I probably would not allow it as his past sell reputation is questionable. We don't want deadbeat sellers.

It is good to see that you feel this way Kal. What I think frustrates many though is when they try to warn others or vent their feelings on the other forum their posts get deleted or the thread gets locked. This alone would appear as to being supportive to Parker and/or his sales.

If Curt (or I) wanted to support Mike, we wouldn't have let that Nidi/Mike Parker thread go on for 7 pages. We would have deleted it immediately or nuked whoever was saying bad things. We didn't.

Instead, I split it off from Mike's Screenshot thread so that it would get MORE visibility by others and it was allowed to go on for 7 pages and then simply locked (not deleted) as it really had served its purpose. I didn't read it past the point where I split it, but Curt mentioned it was just bickering back and forth. Whatever venting had been done was done... they can work it out offline. Allowing yelling matches to go on doesn't help the forum at all and is also against the rules.

Not that he sells anymore, but nobody in their right mind is going to buy from Mike Parker when you read a thread like that. So I don't see how a thread like that helps promote Mike at all. It does the complete opposite. Especially since I split it out from a different thread so it's easier for others to find now.

Mike used to have a sub-forum in our forum too, which I locked/hid as I didn't want to help promote anything he sold/did as (in my eyes) he was unable to deliver in a timely manner.

Many posts were deleted in that thread. And also in the past in other parker threads many posts were deleted. You may not have known this since you indicate you do not read most of those threads. But the truth is they were. Needless to say you apparently were not directly responsible for those incidents so that would absolve you. Your opinion of the situation has been clearly stated here so everyone can move on from here.

Well i think you lack a bit of context then.
Mike promote himself true the forum, claimeng the never ending spiral of the latest and greatest, it creates curiosity, and i think if you ask anyone who bought mods the last 5 years it was all related to advertising in various threads or sales advertising.
We all jumped in, and suported him for a time untill we got enough when we discovered that it was impossible to get a full functional set of boards that lived up to his description.

As the forum has been well aware of the many cases, and in many cases warned or banned people that was not very satisfied with the ripoff, and therefore maybe reacted in different ways, some emotional others more rational, ill say the pattern of Mikes buisness seems to go back 15 years or so, i reached out to people like Bil Blue, Andi Halliday and other who knows about what went on back then, and the reply is consistent, its a scam.

Mike claims he will not sell mods, now its not the first time he claimed that, and he still claims to be able to repair and upgrade boards for existing custumers.

My dealings with Mike started on the forum, and lasted around 4 years i think, after that period i never recived a set of working boards, i had luck fixing some myself, others is still in the scrap pile.

In the end he got a NIB NOS 2011 build Marquee instaled and calibrated, borowed him 800$ so he could pay his tax bill, and multiple new fresh boards to play with, as the excuse was always he did not have a working testbed in his workshop, and fungus and all sorts of problems with his theater projector, i put his old projector in his worshop, and instaled a new in his basement, for wich he should deliver boards, after i had aproved the prototype.. This is now more than 2 years ago, and not a single $ has come my way after he decidet i was not worthy of his mods.

To some degree that was the best thing that ever happened, as i was forced to sit down and figure out why his mods never worked as promised, or did not work at all.

So when deleting posts from relevant members of the forum who actualy knows a bit of the history, and have insight to mikes buisness model, your deliberate covering up the bigger picture, and making a 1 man fight, one at a time, wich mike has become a expert of creating confusion.

Now Kal i think you owe people to read true the last thread, and see how mike is changing opinion and explanation all the time, and ask yourself if you realy think its fair that a new guy has to read about Mikes never ending promotions in the screenshot thread, contact Mike by Pm, to find that he got scammed a few lears later when he stands up and expresses his experience like all the others.

Ill hate to spend days digging up all the threads and posts true the last 10 years, as i know you been along all the time and knows im right when telling you that mike has conducted this buisness true the forum all these years, and you been wilfully helping to delete and cover for Mike.

A few years back nobody would lift a finger on your forum no matter how dirty and personal people were and no matter how off topic it got, now its quite oposit.

Ill be honest and say ill prefer that forum to be gone, as i dont agree with the buisness moral of Curt palmer, he is almost as sloppy and dishonest as Mike, i just think he is more aware, Mike i think might be a mental disorder, its not impossible he actually belive he is douing good.

At least there seems to be quite a few people rising up behind the scene, thinking enough is enough, and information about your involvment in covering things up is not that hard to see, so there is 2options, you not aware what your douing, or your douing it for a purpose. You cant continue telling people you dont want to get involved or say curt asked me to, wich to me indicate you know its wrong, and you try to put the full responsibility on him.

If you read back on AVS in the early days I asked him lots of questions and basically told him (in public) that his screenshots look like crap. His projectors are always completely uncalibrated and often he doesn't even seem to bother doing a convergence! If someone saw these screenshots and like them and wanted to buy whatever he was selling (at the time), more power to them.

Most people dont know what to look for, if mike write it looks great, or i just made this new mod, so notice the colors, bla bla bla they eat it.
If he posted pics, so what, but he always have to add promotion, or brag about how he is the only one capable.

The first post in nidis thread is a quote from the screenshot thread, read that one over again, and think how many people he upset when claiming he can and will educate people what to do, after a history of never ending disasters.

I know you have no interest or read into that, but ill have to admit it got to me at some point, and it took me quite some time to get wiser, and the worse part is that it also have torn people apart as they were in different stages of the MP cycle, so some suporting, and other picking on him, in the end we all endet picking on him, but each his own way as everybody has some personal grudge against someone.

The CRT forum is history, and Mike is the only crackpot left, so the general impretion people get is what he posts, if you like that to be it, fine with me, but please understand if someone fly out bashing him when he claims he did or can do something he claimed for the last 10 years and many people spend well over 5000$ trying to get, to end up with nothing, they might get a bit emotional, and if they on top of that get repremendet for sharing it might be a shitshow.

The last page of the screenshot thread makes a good idea whats been going on for a long time.

To add a bit of comparison here is Mikes pic vs the screen cap, vs my marquee.

Yes kal. what you and Curt do not see is that most of these guys went into an agreement with parker with the best intentions and lots on money and parker did not. And when they came to realize the product was not what it was claimed to be tried to get some sort of compensation from him. He then basically tells them tough luck (in a round about way). So the only compensation they can really get is to call him out on it in open forum. And when that happens all the others who were hood winked by him come out to also get some sort of additional compensation even if just from words.

So what you and Curt see as only bickering or pot stirring is really those who were shafted in the past and still want some sort of compensation, even if only with words, since they know any monetary compensation is like squeezing water from a stone.. It helps to make them feel somewhat compensated. And you and Curt take that away from them when you delete, lock or reprimand.

Though he does not "ADVERTISE" his wares on the site directly, I believe you both are aware that the site is the springboard for enticing another sucker to drop some cash his way. If you don't like the feedback the MP mods create then deal with the source of the problem DIRECTLY. I can't say I've followed much of what Mike's done since I stopped being involved with him - didn't he stop selling stuff about 8 years ago? In 2007-2008 when I ran his website, he sold a told of 3 modified Barco board sets over 2 years. Three. That was more than 10 years ago. Surely nobody's been paying him for anything for a long time? (Though I suppose nidi isn't bringing up something from 10 years ago...)

I get the annoyance. Some people aren't happy with Mike. He's obviously ruffled some feathers. Maybe he's a con artist who purposely scamming? Maybe he's incompetent and the mods are crap? Maybe they're fantastic mods that for whatever reason work in his test machine but not on the customer's machine? Maybe his work used to be great (back when I used to deal with him ~10 years ago) but he's gotten older and the work's gotten shoddy. Maybe everyone's CRT unit is getting too old. I have no idea what the truth is but I do know that none of that stuff has nothing to do with CurtPalme.com. The CurtPalme.com forum doesn't exist to allow people to insult others as that's against our rules. People can criticize, be constructive, post opinions but they shouldn't directly insult someone or get into a name calling match. I know that's hard, when people feel they've been scammed.

I told him he'd sell a lot more if he even bothered to converge the set or calibrate the colours, but he always had some odd excuse or would say something odd like "those that know what to look for will see what I'm showing". If you criticize, make sure it's not personal. I'm all about freedom of speech but we need some forum rules which means no personal insults.

Kal, the only logical thing to do having all these doubt about Mike is to ban him.

He used the screenshot thread to sell his mods over the years.

He found many suckers like me and still has at least one on his leach.

I remember that every time he sold me something that I had to post a positive feedback about his work.

I did that reluctantly knowing thay there would be other problems that turn up
after I've given a comment.

You don't know how many time I had to send back boards for things he did to those boards.

There is a time when the cup is full.
and I finally reached that.

don't give Mike Parker a platform for his dismal work.

so, your forum is actively supporting a person of questionable skills and
handywork, who might be a genius when it comes to videochains and Marquees.

But what good is that if the modifications cannot be enjoyed because
they open up more problems due to sub standard soldering work.

I wanted to get this across.

Everyone who followed the thread sees that Mike is a troubled individual
who changes from one statement to another, but never admits that there is the
possibility that his work caused all the problems.
He dosen't seem to check his work (maybe by eye only).

He has divided like no other person having this hobby the whole
CRT community all over the world.

and taken all the fun out of it.

I think we can all agree your now very much aware of his buisness method, so it would only be fair that next time someone pops up that has been ripped off, you yourself take the financial responsibility for alowing him to post his self promoting stuff on the forum, well knowing there is no one alive this day who have a set of properly working Mp boards that would handle a critical test.( try call it out, if someone will offer to be a qualified reference in Mikes favor)

And remember that its passionated hobbyists that is involved, its not the same as they have much clue how to evaluate a videochain properly, so they will argue with simple facts, not tecnical facts.

YES, I have modified many of nidi's boards, BUT
nidi has had a unmodified set of boards each time he has sent them to you or bought unmodified boards from you, so somehow I have messed with them?

How does that work.. Oh and the black or white goop all over them when they return..............
Including burnt video switching relays and many components with soldering iron damage or dry joints,
then the boards have had to been sent back to you, so they would work, extra cost etc...

so were they even tested before you shipped them out?

Is NOT nice, that you "say" nidi does not have the right equipment to produce the desired result with your mods.. nidi has spent well and above for the right equipment, He has all the best equipment, as this is his passion to keep CRT alive, so this statement is so negative for someone who has spent so much money and frustration with trying to keep his passion alive.
YOU HAVE TAKEN THAT JOY FROM HIM.

also I am NOT nidi's calibrator, he has someone that does the whole setup from scratch, mechanical and color calibration who is amazing, he also calibrated my own, and many other proud Marquee users in Europe..

I can post some photos of my own solder work, am sure many others here could also show photos or excellent soldering skills. I am sure it will not be the substandard soldering that I have seen on the boards nidi has with your modifications. Anyone with the right equipment and experience can complete a good solder joint, smd or through hole, end of the story.

Up for all the hard work. This was the place to hang for CRT after Nicolas's forum got hacked, The Evil Twin was a open and great place to hang/chill.... so sorry it could not recover..

nidi and I have the same goal, an awesome image from a CRT projector.

Steve your name came up only saying what he had told me, and that is that you had modified the neck boards that he sent me. Your acknowledging that you had modified boards for him here: "YES, I have modified many of nidi's boards" is exactly what I had mentioned to him, and his response was: "nobody else touched those boards"

So I was only mentioning what he himself had told me. So me being on this end, not knowing anything about you even knowing the guy or living near each other, was told that you modified the boards. How did I know about this, if he himself had not told me and you today confirmed exactly what he had told me.

No question I received 3 neck board that were previously modified.
