He we did not read this serious but it is perhaps exactly what Decibel describes. I quote: 'Oscillations on the end stage of the blue convergence may occur, resulting in an unstable image. These oscillations may cause failures on the peripheral components. Burn out of the Source resistors and other capacitors have been reported.' The solultion requires to replace some smd resistors. I would certainly try this! Decibel did you measure some of those resistors to see if they are 10 Ohm or 100 Ohm in your board? I actually did ask him about this and he indicated that his board had the 100ohm resistors. Unless the language barrier got in the way again.

There are a lot of 10 ohm smd resistor for each of "colour channels". The bulletin suggest to replace the resistors of blue but the next releases of boards have all smd resistors upgraded at 100 ohm.

The list of resistors (and caps/others). In yellow the parts upgraded in latest revision of convergences board (Index 3).

I'll let someone else answer your controller question. So convergence works good.but the grid has an issue you call "fry" whatever that is, lol. Is this same issue noticeable in the video playing onscreen? Mine gets very hot too.

I just noticed that my convergences board have part number different than 909's Service Manual or bulletin. Mine is R7631371 instead R7631375 Now I have many doubts about compatibility. Someone that have Cinemax can check his part number?

Mine is R7631371 instead R763175 Now I have many doubts about compatibility. I would to buy a board for replace my defective unit but now I'm afraid that if buy R763175 is not compatibile.

You definitely should replace it with the R7631375 version. My BR909 have it too. I remember Mike Parker saying that the older one was giving a lot of troubles and Barco had to redesign the board. You can easily distinguish them by the size of the black heatsink. On the new board, the heatsink is much longer.

That was the focus board i thought Mike was saying they had to redesign, the heatsink on those is quite different for later versions. The whole board is longer too.
I have two convergence boards here that both look the same, one from a 2001 CineMAX, and the other from a 2005 BR909. R7631371 is fine provided its not faulty, i have one here that works perfectly.

Don't know about replacing but I have both boards here and not the heatsink is longer but the older board is shorter. It seemed the components are the same but I did not measure vallues of resistors. I shall see if I see diodes. I will also post a picture.

These are the two types of convergence boards. I have the small one only temporary as it is not mine

You are right that there are some diodes on the smaller board where the newer board has resistors. The vallues on the smaller board ar 10 Ohm in my case so if you still have the diodes you will likely also have the 10 Ohm resistors. I think upgrading would solve the issue like the bulletin suggests. Replacing the diodes with 100 Ohm resistors too. Bigger board (I did not upgrade the resistors yet) Smaller board (yours)

Guys, you have many parts. sell to me one of these! I've got myself back-ups for each board, but they are not realy for sale. If something gets wrong, i'm screwed. Sorry.
