The primary of the transformer is OPEN..... You have verified the primary is open with your DMM? If so, then yes, there is a fuse in that primary. Cut and peel back some of the tape and you should find it. Just be careful of the winding wire. It is quite thin.

Yes open with DMM. There is a copper band around the yellow tape it is OK to cut that?

Yes, you can cut it if you cannot unwrap it.. After you replace the fuse just tape everything back together.

Well I removed the Copper band and the yellow tape but the thermal fuse is in the center of the transformer. I might be able to break some of the plastic teeth to get to it?

Are the wires going to the fuse accessible? I have had some like that and i just cut the wires going to the fuse and left it there and just put another fuse behind the tape. Of course test if the fuse is blown also if you can.

You can break those plastic tabs off if it helps to dig it out. Are those the wires to the fuse that have the black wire covering on them in the top pic?

Well that was a pain in the ASS to get out! I got it out and don't think I ruined anything here's a picture of it and it's open. I will order one and see if the repair works. The leads on that thing were damn strong.

Fixed I replaced the transformer from another unit that I received in for scrap. I might still fix the old transformer but the cost of the thermal fuse from Newark with shipping was crazy.
Thanks again for all the help.

Good job. Yeah, just wait and get some when you have to order other stuff. You will need more as time goes on.

Hello guys, I just got one 636 receiver with the same behaviour and I would like to ask if anyone saw this type of repair, looks like the repair was done by someone who knew very well what's there, probably service centre. I've attached one picture with the board. Thank's in advance.
