I dont play 3D games, i watch 3D movies, but simulation grade P19LUG tubes are fine for that.

Well finally happened for asking critical questions to a certain modifyer I got almost banned for life reason given is swearing. Yes I said fuck sometimes sorry for that to everyone. Happy customers did not like reading what I wrote and complained. Even Curt did not like his OWN forum anymore. How to deal with this. I ran into a lot of problems with my boards and even when I was just focussed on repairing happy customers blamed me for being critical. I feel I ran into a cult of guys that think themselve supperior when they have the mods and are ready to do almost everything to protect that feeling. I do not agree with them. Unmodded projectors look very good too when the owner does a loving setup. The mods well they keep changing and you have to buy again and again. For the attentive reader he may find the mods explained all over this board.

I am so glad I stopped posting there. It caused me so much stress I did hot even want all that trouble I want to enjoy movies and the fun of modding repairing. I am definately out that war unless forced.

It seems a few more members got banned there.. And the moderation/ post deleting is acellerating.. Was that not the very reason to start that forum to get away from the moderation and banning on AVS.?
Soon MP and CM will be the only ones left posting in the CRT section, telling people how CRT will do 4K with ease, and to resolve HD you just need MP mods, even he is not capable of presenting evidence that looks like more than a fuzzy shot of a upscaled DVD.
I bet it must be very very confusing beeing someone trying to find out what CRT is and can these days, if looking over there, and god help them if they ask.

I havent been there for a long time.
I wouldnt buy anything from Curt, ive received too many items that were 'tested and working fine' that were pretty near on their last legs ( like the quad i bought, 'as new' Curt says, the HV lead was black with years of build up, and it was arcing internally )
GregsTV has repaired many items that Curt says 'cant be fixed, theyre too complex to repair'... But along comes Greg, makes it look easy. Obviously Greg has a considerable amount more talent and knowledge i guess...

There has been threads trashed with personal mud.. And no moderator to see anywhere on that forum.. |

The thread played out as I expected and the loser in the long run was MP. At least I got the boards back and resold them to another member. I never got banned, but removed myself from the board do to the constant carrot and stick approach to mods. I'm glad to have moved on.

MP again has started one of his legendary threads with possibly fantastic results and a statement that he will share what kind of magic he did and how he did it. As usual, in the end there won‘t be neither hard facts nor any reproducable technical information. It‘ll slowly dry down like so many other threads of this type. Only difference this time: It‘s about audio gear.

You would not find a soul using a carousel CD player for mods or otherwise. Most people have moved to Roon player core and server on the streaming side/playback or HQ player with Roon. Others use a RPI with digi-one board or HAT. Some still spin the disc like I use to. Op amps and stuff like that was done on my sound cards back in the day. They still sounded like a computer. I always promise myself that I stay out of MP related threads, but I am too weak. Last time I posted actually something that supported somewhat what he was talking about, and all I got was... well... not very nice. I also worked a few years in the High-end audio industry, but of course nothing could beat MP's long years of experience and his military courses. |

MP is mentaly on a different planet, and from the last pieces of information i got from over there, it sounds like hes brain is now oscillating, and about to burn down.
I have visited his house multiple times as it was needet to get anything out of there, or something done, and can promise you that there is no high end stuff going on there, or a chance im hell it will ever happen.
His workshop is a total caos, with boards stacked in a unrespectfull maner, and solderwick solder blobs and other stuff all over, wich over time have resulted in many shorts and problems.
His basement is full of old crap, projectors cables players blu ray movies and other stuff, mostly he is walking on top of it all as he is to lazy to clean up or move it, i did spend quite a few hours trying to clean it up a bit.
MP helped me a lot over time, as his constant defective mods forced me to atempt to repair boards myself, as a return cycle would take multiple years and a good chunk of money, as he always had reinvented the deep plate, and NOW with unseen image quality.
There has never been 2 the same mods from MP, as he dont remember from one moment to the next, and might explain his constant posting about his latest and greatest, He did make a miniboard switcher wich worked quite well, just that he most likely forgot to terminate it, and remove the parts that would radiate noice into the new switcher, i seen 4 different editions of 4 vims that was surposed to be identical and made in a short timeframe.. and they all had different issues, shorts terminations and so on. Lucky its mostly simple errors that is easy spotted and solved.
MP owes me a good chunk of money and boards he borowed, he got a new projector wich he within a few months had made into a disaster of spotburned tube and covers that had been stepped on, and various other board mods that introduce various new issues.
I did my best to help MP for quite a long time, but that ended after his paranoia got to bad and acusing me of running other neckboards, wich aparetly was a problem for him.. I had for a long time been trying to make some of the MP neckboards work, as none ever did when i got them, and not sure who told who what but a lot of gossip aparently got to him, just the other day Barcly was named to be the source of the rumor/ informer. Wich i dont understand as he has never been here and would not be able to know what and how my setup is running.
