No it doesn't. I went and buy one today so i will pull the one in the supply board and test it like you said. And if it doesn't good i will replace with the new one. I will update later on.

Ok, the relay is damaged. I tested it and there's no continuity on pin 1 and 4 when it gets 9v. I will replace it with another. I couldn't find a 9v relay to buy( apparently they are hard to find this days) so I bought 12v relay and tested it with 9v battery and it was fine, but he is a little bigger so i need to make some adjustments with him. My question is do i need to replace the capacitor c9100 to? Or some other parts in that area of the relay? What do you think?

The relay is a 12v relay. The 9v battery test is just for testing purposes.
I would just try the new relay first before replacing anything else. You can test the diode and transistor with your meter before installing the relay if you want just to make sure they at least test ok.

Are you sure about it? Because the model name is SDT-S-109DMR. And on the relay there's 9v mark. I am attaching image of the relay. Also when l look for buying one on the web, according to the data sheets it is 9v relay. It's surprised me to because the voltage on the board is 12v.

Well now you know why those relays are failing, lol. This is not the first Onkyo with a failed relay that I have heard of. Use the 12v relay.

Yes probably faulty design by onkyo. Ok I will put the 12v relay.

Hi, ok I finally replaced the relay and the receiver is working ππ So first of all thanks a lot mastertech π It wouldn't have happened without you. Now however i have some additional problems that I discovered. Apparently the standby/on light not working. It is a minor problem but if the repair not that complex I don't mind fixing that. Second problem is when I first turned on the receiver the left channel was not working. But after I connected the center speaker it suddenly started to work. But i don't know if it is perfectly ok. They don't sound even the left and right.

Great to hear it is working. I seem to remember some units where the standby light is only lit when you turn it off with the remote. But not sure what models that was but give it a try first. As far as the left channel issue, I would try doing a master reset on the receiver first.

Hi everyone,
First and foremost thanks, especially to mastertech, for all the info here, it's helped me work out why my 818 has no power - the relay (RL9101) is goosed.
This seems to be a common issue with this amp and similar models so I thought I would post up a simple test that will isolate this relay:
Plug amp in and set Multimeter to volts DC. Connect negative to chassis and positive between R9014 and RL9101 (pin 3 on RL9101). This should read approx 12v. This is the relay input power. Next check that the other end gets grounded when you press the power button. To do this set the multimeter to continuity (beep), keep the negative on the chassis (clip it on somehow), put the positive on the other side of the relay (pin 2 on RL9101). Now, press the power button and you should get a beep and the relay should give an easily audible click. If you get a beep but no click and there was 12v on the other side then the relay is knackered.
Sound sensible mastertech?

Hello, I'm having the same problem with my onkyo tn-nr818. There's no power or response when the button it pushed. I removed the case, to some measurements with my dmm. I started witht the psu at the 7 pin connector. I'm not getting a stable 12v in pin 3 (11.6v). I go to measure without the 5 pin connector on the hdmi board and I get (11.8v) on pin 3. I think I broke the 5 pin connector plastic (there super hard to remove) but I think I can just soldier the wire directly or soldier my own pin headers. I'm thinking the power supply is not switching the relay on the psu but I'll like to do more test before taking the whole unit apart.

What do you get on pin 7 of the PS connector?

The ps pin 7 is jumping back and forth 0.1-0.2 v

Try pressing the power button while monitoring the voltage on pin 7.
