A friend of mine delivered in my home his 909 for test. The unit power up but show a lot of i2c errors. I tried to swap SMPS; SMPS2; Horizontal; rgb input+driver; convergences board. The i2c errors remains. Any suggestions?

What is the number of the i2c error that adress should lead you to the board failing. Might be something simple like the temp controller board.

Are all the correct boards with the right version numbers in that 909?

I think yes.

Try swapping the controller board.
Is the 17v set correctly? If its too low, ive had mine randomly throw a heap of I2C errors.

One defective chip on the i²c bus can totally block the bus ,so you have all the errors but only one will be valid, not saying this is happening but it can. The "no more can set anything" is a strong indication in that direction if it's not the control board put the vertical on your to check list to. (and the convergence does not use that bus)

Bad vertical board. What can be broken on this board? Can I do some checking?

I500 , I501 and I502 use the I²c bus on the vertical board , they use +3,3v supplied by (I4) check if still present if not check SR1. If +3,3v is present check also the -1,7v if o.k. then likely only one of the three chips is faulty and blocking the I²c bus (SDA ,SCL lines) But those chips are as far as I know (except from barco) no where to be found.

There are a lot of these chips in 808's (1209 also) convergence driver new style. In the older style the numbers appear different.

O.k. because there are three chips and we don't know which one so pick one randomly disconnect pin 7(scl) and pin 8(sda) from that chip by desoldering the legs and bend them a little over until they are disconnected from the traces (are cut the traces) ,test in projector and if this one is the bad one projector should only give one error message and everything should work except from the settings this chip does,if bus is still totally blocked ,disconnect same pins on next chip and so on until bus comes free ,then reconnect pins from first chip see if bus stays free ;this way you should find the faulty one (are more) and finally replace them and test again. Be carreful don't destroy the board while soldering. (I have some boards of you in mind)
