Hi Guys,
My main amp has a problem. I think I caused it. I plugged in a $25 splitter between the DVD player and the HDMI input. As soon as I did I got a blue screen. I have done a reset and left it off overnight but still no go. All on screen menus work fine so I think I may of lost a rail or something to the HDMI input chips. No HDMI input works. Any ideas or does anyone have a service manual?

Seems unlikely the splitter would do that to the inputs. Does HDMI audio input still operate or nothing at all?

Thanks Mastertech,
I have done some more testing. The front HDMI port still works. So I tried port 6 and 7 and they worked. I just reassigned them as there is no direct input for them. I can assign ports 6 and 7 to any of the inputs and the work. Ports 1 to 5 are not detecting HDMI. On the front panel every input is analog until you plug a HDMI signal into them. They change to HDMI once detected. All this switching is done through the SI19489CTUC chip. Can you tell me where the HDMI input detection is done? Is it in the same chip? Do you have a service manual?
Thanks, Greg

The service manual is in my post. Just click on the blue letters.

From what I am seeing, HDMI ports (front,6 and 7)are switched by Q8201:E and then sent to Q8132. Q8132 also switches port 1-5. So Q8132 has to be working to a point since some ports work.
What I am seeing as a difference between what is working and what is not is +5VTX. So I would check resistors R8141 and R8142, both being 0 ohms.
Maybe also check R8133 and R8136, also 0 ohm both.

Thanks,
Checked all these and the rails and they are all ok. I did a search for the chip and had no luck.

Thanks, This didn't come up in my search. I think I need to make sure I do a world wide search when I am on eBay. I have ordered 2.

I had a power surge on my ground line and destroyed both the HDMI receiver and transmitter, I also wanted to thank Mastertech for the service manual.
My question is now did you guys remove the HDMI chips, I pulled one using hot air but how would I put the new one on because of the ground pad under the IC? did you just use hot air or an infrared reflow. In my situation a power socket on a line filter to my tv shorted to the grounded case, so I ended up with a think a high current surge on the ground to the tv and took out the AVR and my cable box, at this point I get no HDMI function from the AVR, the tv is fine and the connected Blu-ray survived but blew one HDMI receiver and the transmitter failed about 5 min after, I removed Q8132 to unload the line voltages on that board. I wanted to know if the HDMI boards are compatible between the TX-NR809 and the 709 as they seem the same in the service manual. I don't have a hot air reflow station but I do have an oven, is it even worth the risk? what sucks is my HDMI board has had the recalled work done to it and aside from the HDMI it all works. is it worth the risk or troll ebay still I can find an HDMI board? Thank you
Since this is my first post here my back ground is in electronics repair for about 20 years now

Oven is a definite no.
Compatible with 709 is hard to say. Let us know if you do try.
